We are an energy efficiency and clean energy solutions company operating across Southeast Asia, with core markets in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. As part of our capability-building and regional expansion strategy, we are seeking an experienced and commercially astute leader to head our financing, funding, and commercial risk management functions.
The Head of Finance will play a critical role in enabling project execution and business scalability by structuring financing solutions, securing funding, and ensuring strong commercial governance across energy efficiency, BESS, and related infrastructure projects.
This role sits at the intersection of finance, energy engineering, and commercial decision-making, working closely with management, technical teams, partners, and financiers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financing & Capital Strategy
. Lead and execute financing strategies for energy efficiency and clean energy projects, including:
o Project finance
o Asset-backed financing
o Leasing / ESCO / shared-savings models
. Secure funding from banks, financial institutions, private lenders, investors, and strategic partners
. Structure financing terms aligned with project cash flows, risk profiles, and client contracts
. Support fund-raising initiatives at both project level and corporate level
2. Commercial Oversight & Deal Structuring
. Own the commercial evaluation of projects, including:
o Financial models (IRR, NPV, payback, cash flow profiles)
o Tariff structures, service fees, and performance-based returns
. Review and approve commercial terms in contracts with customers, suppliers, EPCs, and partners
. Ensure pricing, margins, and risk allocations are commercially sound and bankable
3. Risk Management & Governance
. Identify, assess, and manage financial, contractual, and counterparty risks
. Develop risk-mitigation strategies covering:
o Payment security
o Performance guarantees
o Regulatory and cross-border risks
o FX and interest-rate exposure (where applicable)
. Establish internal approval frameworks and commercial controls for investments and long-term contracts
4. Regional & Cross-Functional Leadership
. Work closely with engineering, project management, operations, and sales teams to align technical design with financing requirements
. Support regional expansion across Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia with localized financing and compliance strategies
. Engage with external advisors, legal counsel, insurers, and auditors when required
5. Strategic & Capability Development
. Build internal capabilities in energy project finance, commercial modeling, and contract structuring
. Develop standardized financing templates, models, and decision frameworks
. Advise management on strategic investments, partnerships, and growth opportunities
Required Experience & Qualifications
. Minimum 8-12 years of experience in:
o Project finance
o Energy, infrastructure, or ESG-related investments
o Commercial or investment roles within energy, utilities, or industrial sectors
. Strong understanding of:
o Energy efficiency business models (ESCO, performance-based contracting)
o Infrastructure or asset financing
o Commercial and contractual risk
. Proven track record in securing funding or leading financing transactions
. Experience working across Southeast Asia markets preferred
. Strong financial modeling, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Background
. Experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy, BESS, or utility-scale projects
. Exposure to cross-border financing or regional portfolios
. Familiarity with industrial, commercial, or infrastructure clients
. Ability to bridge technical concepts with financial decision-making
