Job Description

About Our Client

Our client is a European boutique wholesale bank with an established and growing presence across Asia. As the organisation continues to expand its regional footprint, it remains focused on building a disciplined and well-governed credit platform to support sustainable growth.

They are now looking to appoint a Head of Credit (Asia) to lead credit risk approval and governance across the region. This is a senior leadership role with full oversight of credit decision-making, partnering closely with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure a balanced and consistent risk approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and provide final credit approval for wholesale banking transactions across the Asia region

• Oversee complex credit proposals spanning corporate lending and project financing structures

• Set the tone for credit discipline, ensuring a consistent and robust risk framework across portfolios

• Partner closely with senior front office stakeholders to provide independent, balanced, and commercially sound risk guidance

• Evaluate industry, counterparty, and transaction-specific risks across a diverse regional portfolio

• Ensure alignment with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and overall risk appetite

• Oversee portfolio monitoring, identifying emerging risks and driving mitigating actions at a regional level

• Drive the development and enhancement of credit frameworks, governance, and approval standards

• Act as a key escalation point for high-impact or complex transactions

Requirements

• 18+ years of experience in credit risk within wholesale or corporate banking

• Proven track record as a senior credit approver with delegated authority, ideally at a regional or global level

• Strong industry experience across corporate lending and project financing

• Demonstrated experience covering Asia regional portfolios with depth and breadth across markets

• Strong commercial judgement with the ability to balance risk and business considerations at a senior level

• Gravitas and confidence to engage, influence, and challenge senior stakeholders across front office and management

• High integrity, sound judgement, and ability to operate in a fast-paced, decision-driven environment
