Job Description

URGENTLY HIRING HEAD OF CONTENT (Medical)

Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Standards

  • Develop the overall content strategy for website, blog, social media, and video channels.
  • Establish guidelines for tone of voice, brand style, accuracy, factchecking, accessibility, and responsible use of AI tools.
  • Define core content themes and structure to improve search visibility and user navigation.
  • Plan and oversee content changes (e.g. site merges, redesigns) to protect traffic and quality.

Editorial Planning, Production & Distribution

  • Manage the multi-channel editorial calendar and ensure all briefs are based on search intent and audience insights.
  • Oversee content creation and on-page optimization (titles, metadata, alt text, structured data, readability, localization).
  • Scale output using templates or programmatic content where suitable.
  • Lead publishing, distribution, and amplification across owned and earned channels.

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Set annual plans, KPIs, and translate strategy into a clear execution roadmap.
  • Build and lead the content teamincluding hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and succession planning.
  • Implement efficient workflows, templates, and quality checks to maintain high content standards.
  • Run team routines (stand-ups, planning, retrospectives) and support remote or overseas teammates.
  • Manage content budgets, tools, agencies, and vendors.
  • Align with Marketing, UX, Development, and Sales; provide progress updates to senior management and the Board.
  • Oversee compliance, copyright, approvals, and handle escalations.

SEO & Website Experience (Oversight)

  • Set content-led SEO priorities, including information architecture and hub/pillar strategies.
  • Ensure technical SEO audits are completed and work with technical teams to prioritise fixes.
  • Approve content requirements for site migrations and new launches.
  • Track search performance, identify opportunities, and lead content refresh or consolidation efforts.
  • Maintain accountability for organic performance while partnering with technical teams for implementation.

Measurement, Analytics & Experimentation

  • Define KPIs, reporting cadence, and lead performance reviews.
  • Oversee dashboards and translate insights into content improvements and roadmap priorities.
  • Run content experiments (e.g. titles, schema variations, formats, publishing cadence) and ensure learnings are adopted.
  • Work with analytics and engineering teams to ensure proper data tracking and measurement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, Digital Media, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in content strategy, digital content, or editorial leadership.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, analytics, and multi-channel content distribution.
  • Proven experience managing content teams and delivering high-quality, scalable content.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with Marketing, UX, Product, and Development teams.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and project management capabilities.
