Job Description
Cana Consulting is partnering with a leading Asia-based investment and operating group is seeking to appoint a Head of Compliance to lead its compliance function across Singapore, Hong Kong and Mainland China.
This is a senior leadership position with overall responsibility for the Group's compliance framework across the region. Working closely with senior management, Legal and business leadership, the successful candidate will provide strategic and practical compliance advice while ensuring that appropriate governance, policies and controls are maintained across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the compliance function across Singapore, Hong Kong and Mainland China, providing overall direction and coordination across the respective jurisdictions.
- Develop, maintain and continuously enhance the Group's compliance framework, policies and governance standards in line with evolving business and regulatory requirements.
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior management and business leaders on significant compliance, regulatory and conduct matters.
- Oversee compliance with applicable regulatory requirements across the Group's investment and business activities, working closely with local compliance teams and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain appropriate oversight of key compliance risks, including conflicts of interest, anti-bribery and corruption, financial crime, sanctions, conduct and third-party risks.
- Provide oversight and guidance on regulatory engagements, reviews and other interactions with relevant authorities.
- Oversee compliance monitoring, risk assessments and related assurance activities, ensuring that material issues are appropriately identified, escalated and addressed.
- Provide leadership and guidance on significant compliance matters, including internal reviews and investigations where appropriate.
- Ensure effective compliance training and communication across the organisation and promote a strong culture of integrity and accountability.
- Partner closely with Legal, investment teams, business functions and senior leadership on new initiatives, transactions and evolving areas of regulatory or compliance risk.
- Lead, develop and provide strategic direction to compliance professionals across the region.
Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally possess:
- Significant experience in a senior compliance leadership position within a sophisticated, international organisation.
- Strong experience overseeing compliance matters across multiple Asian jurisdictions, with Greater China exposure highly desirable.
- Experience within investment management, financial services, private markets or another regulated environment would be advantageous.
- Broad understanding of regulatory compliance, corporate compliance and financial crime-related matters.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee compliance teams across different jurisdictions.
- Strong judgement and the ability to navigate complex issues where regulatory, commercial and reputational considerations intersect.
- Excellent stakeholder-management skills, with the credibility and presence to engage senior management and business leadership.
- A pragmatic and commercially minded approach, with the ability to balance robust compliance standards with the practical needs of the business.
- Relevant professional, legal, accounting or compliance qualifications would be advantageous.
