THE POSITION
This role links the Regional Operating Unit (R)OPU level with the global commercial, marketing, and sales strategy into upstream and downstream supply chain and operations management with a focus on cost efficiency. It ensures adequate product availability to support achieving (R)OPU sales objectives through management of demand planning, in- and outbound logistics, and customer service activities under consideration of GxP, regulatory, and commercial requirements. The role also actively develops a high-performing commercial supply chain organization.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Ensure the balancing of supply chain costs, product availability and inventory levels
- Coordinate optimized replenishment planning activities to the ROPU
- Coordinate supply allocation in case of supply constraint within the ROPU in alignment with Commercial and Global SCM
- Launch/change coordination of related supply chain responsibilities
- Own and govern local Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process to conduct demand/ supply review and portfolio management (complexity reduction) with business, regulatory, finance and quality management.
- Perform regular S&OP maturity assessment in countries and ROPU
- Ensure correct master data in various systems and conduct annual portfolio segmentation and derive parameterization strategies
- Manage tactical implementation of global Supply Chain strategies over a 1-2 year period and position commercial supply chain as partner for commercial operations and trade channel management
- Drive continuous improvement and process standardization initiatives across local Commercial-SCM (CSCM)
- Manage performance of 3PL/4PL including its selection process
- Promote CSCM talent development and knowledge sharing in (R)OPU
- Ensure performance management of direct reports to enable strong CSCM performance
Requirements
- University degree Bachelor or equivalent in Supply Chain, Logistics, etc. MSc / MBA is an advantage
- Certificates (mandatory): APICS or equivalent
- Certificates (preferred): PMI or Prince 2
- Minimum 8 years of supply chain management experience in life science industry
- Ideally, around 8 years of supply chain management experience in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) type business
- Professional level of downstream supply chain management, including data analytics
- Profound knowledge of trade regulations and management of 3rd‑party logistics and warehousing providers
- Robust knowledge of financial business planning and the impact of supply chain cost on the income statement and balance sheet (excellent business and financial acumen)
- Deep cultural and commercial understanding of markets in the life science and FMCG‑type business environments
- Extensive know-how:
- in SAP and APO DP & SNP / JDA
- in MS Excel - analytics and mass data processing - Language skills: Proficient in English
- Communication skills:
- Excellent communication skills at all management levels
- Effective negotiator with excellent presentation skills (oral and written) - Proven leadership skills both in people and matrix organization
