Element Testing Services Pte Ltd, a company of Temasek holding is a pioneer in Testing, Inspection and Certification industry in Singapore, serving a wide magnitude of industry. Element is looking to strengthen the aerospace portfolio of our services and hence have a position available for a calibration & product reliability HOD/Manager who is familiar with the aerospace industry and standards. Element Calibration department served major aerospace customers like ST Aerospace, SAESL, PWCS, SAFRAN, SIAEC etc.
The Calibration & Product Reliability Laboratory HOD/Manager is responsible for leading and managing the business and operations of the laboratory to ensure timely, accurate, and reliable measurement services. The role involves overseeing staff, maintaining accreditation standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025), optimizing workflow efficiency, and ensuring customer satisfaction through technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of calibration/product reliability technicians and engineers.
- Manage profit and loss for the department
- Oversee daily laboratory operations to ensure adherence to schedules, quality, and safety requirements.
- Allocate resources efficiently to meet workload demands and client commitments.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
- Forecast and plan department revenue and budget
2. Quality & Accreditation Compliance
- Maintain and continuously improve the ISO/IEC 17025 quality management system.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, regulatory standards, and audit requirements.
- Coordinate and prepare for external audits and proficiency testing.
- Review and approve calibration certificates, uncertainty budgets, and technical documentation.
3. Technical Oversight
- Provide technical guidance on calibration methods, instrumentation, and measurement traceability.
- Evaluate new calibration equipment and technologies to expand laboratory capabilities.
- Familiar with industry technical requirement, qualification and standards
- Ensure calibration standards are maintained, traceable, and within validity periods.
4. Customer & Business Support
- Engage and Interface with clients to understand requirements, resolve technical issues, and ensure satisfaction.
- Plan sales and business strategy with sales team to formulate a go to market plan
- Manage key accounts, projects and contracts
- Support business development activities by providing technical input for quotations and proposals.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and new service offerings.
5. Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and organized working environment in compliance with company HSE policies.
- Ensure staff follow safety procedures when handling instruments and reference standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metrology, or a related technical discipline.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in quality, calibration, metrology, or testing laboratory management.
- Proven experience managing ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories is advantageous
- Background in dimensional, electrical, temperature, or pressure calibration
- Proven experience in aerospace quality requirement and experiences is advantageous
