Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Regulations Engineer to support the development and manufacture of Lasers printer products, ensuring they are safe and compliant with global regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who is passionate about product safety, regulatory compliance, and cross‑functional collaboration within a dynamic, global organization at HP.

As a Product Regulation Engineer, you will analyze electro‑mechanical equipment to establish regulatory compliance, conduct experimental testing, and evaluate test results against applicable safety, regulatory standards including new regulations landscape that might include Cybersecurity and Sustainability. You will perform safety analyses, contribute to the development of safe product designs, and develop and implement compliance plans for assigned projects, covering product testing and certification required for worldwide market access. You will also support the resolution of regulatory‑related issues for released products, ensuring sustained compliance throughout the product lifecycle.



Responsibilities

  • Serves as the technical authority for product safety and regulatory compliance, applying deep expertise in safety principles and their application to complex electro‑mechanical printer systems.

  • Leads and works with a team of compliance engineers, providing coaching, technical direction, and performance guidance to achieve organizational goals and foster a high‑performance culture in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Leads regulatory and safety assessments of printer hardware architectures, defining compliance strategies aligned with global regulatory, certification, and market access requirements.

  • Drives and oversees Safety, EMC, Telecom, and Cybersecurity qualification strategies, providing expert guidance on test approaches, key risk areas, and system‑level trade‑offs across the product lifecycle.

  • Provides senior‑level technical input on electrical and mechanical hardware architectures, influencing early‑phase LaserJet product design to enable compliance by design.

  • Applies system‑level understanding of firmware and software interactions to identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory risks associated with hardware‑software integration.

  • Defines and executes regulatory compliance roadmaps for complex or high‑visibility programs, including testing, certification, factory inspections, and global market approvals.

  • Owns program‑level regulatory strategy across multiple products, managing regulatory deliverables and ensuring timely, effective engagement with internal stakeholders and external partners.

  • Leads the resolution of complex regulatory issues for released products, acting as the primary escalation point and coordinating cross‑functional alignment to drive closure.

  • Leads engagement with manufacturing partners and factories, overseeing regulatory audits and inspections and driving timely closure of findings and corrective actions.

  • Build trusted partnerships with R&D, Operations, Quality, Customer Assurance, and Manufacturing Partners to influence lifecycle decisions and ensure regulatory readiness at each phase.

  • Guides product risk assessments by proactively evaluating the impact of evolving global regulatory requirements (e.g., NRTL, CE, CCC, BIS, and other international schemes) and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Provides technical leadership across the regulatory compliance landscape from NPI through CPE, influencing WTR/TRSE, Operations, and Manufacturing Partners to strengthen execution, reduce compliance risk, and enable timely certifications.



Education & Experience Recommended

  • B.S. or M.S. Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related fields

  • Typical 7 - 10 years of work experience in Regulations
