Job Description: Applied AI Engineer (FinOps Orchestration) — TTA (Travel, Transport, Automotive) | Singapore (Onsite Preferred)

Auto Leasing Co builds fintech products for SME business owners in the travel, transport, and automotive (TTA) industry. We are developing a FinOps orchestration layer that enables one CFO/Finance Manager to manage a hybrid team of AI finance agents, with strong emphasis on controls, reliability, and auditability.

Role Summary

We're hiring an Applied AI Engineer to work directly with the founder within Product Development & Engineering. You will help ship an MVP in 3-month delivery cycles, turning scoped requirements into working software. This role is portfolio-first (show > tell) and is ideal for a hands-on builder comfortable operating across AI prototyping and product engineering, with disciplined handling of PII and financial data.

Work Arrangement

- Location: Singapore

- Onsite: Preferred due to PII sensitivity and close integration with management accounts/audited financials; flexibility may be considered based on portfolio and fit

- Engagement: Open to part-time or full-time depending on fit and scope

What You'll Do

- Build and ship AI-enabled product features from scoped requirements/specs to production-ready increments within 3-month milestones

- Prototype, implement, and iterate on AI-assisted finance workflows while ensuring outputs are consistent, traceable, and usable in finance contexts

- Design and implement guardrails for AI behavior, including validation, human-in-the-loop review points, and exception handling for edge cases

- Integrate AI components into product workflows, collaborating with UI/UX work in progress and aligning engineering execution to product intent

- Work with sensitive financial data and PII responsibly, applying practical security controls and least-privilege access patterns

- Improve delivery velocity by using modern engineering practices (clean PRs, tests where appropriate, clear documentation, and pragmatic automation)

- Collaborate closely with the founder and stakeholders, communicating tradeoffs and progress clearly and proactively

Must-Have Qualifications

- Demonstrable portfolio of shipped projects (AI-coded or from scratch); links to repos, demos, or case studies strongly preferred

- Strong hands-on engineering ability to take ambiguous problems and deliver working software with high ownership

- Practical experience building with modern AI/LLM tooling (prompting, tool/function calling, RAG patterns, evaluation/iteration) and integrating it into real workflows

- Strong product execution mindset: ability to turn requirements into deliverables, prioritize, and ship

- Comfort working with sensitive data; disciplined approach to privacy, access control, and secure handling of PII/financial information

- Clear communication and collaboration skills in a fast-moving environment

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

- Experience in fintech, finance operations, procurement, audit, or accounting-adjacent workflows

- Experience improving AI reliability for high-stakes domains (e.g., structured outputs, verification steps, deterministic checks, audit logs, evaluation harnesses)

- Full-stack capability (frontend + backend) to deliver end-to-end product increments independently

- Experience integrating with finance systems or data sources (e.g., accounting platforms, invoicing, payments, reconciliation workflows)

- Familiarity with Singapore regulatory expectations or security best practices for financial data handling

- Ability to work onsite in Singapore and collaborate closely with a small product/engineering team

What Success Looks Like

- First days: Rapidly understands requirements, data constraints, and security expectations; proposes a clear execution plan and starts delivering tangible progress (PRs, prototypes, workflow demos)

- First 3 months: MVP shipped and accepted by pilot users, meeting agreed scope with reliable workflows and sensible controls for finance-grade use

- Ongoing: Consistently expands founder capacity by independently driving features from definition to delivery while maintaining security and quality discipline
