Job Description

Job Name: Group Tax Assistant Director

Industry: Manufacturing

Job Location (Country): Singapore

About the role

Our client is a well-established global manufacturing group headquartered in Singapore. It runs production sites across Asia, Europe and the Americas and serves leading multinational brands. It is looking for a Group Tax Assistant Director to oversee tax strategy, compliance and transfer pricing for its Asian entities, with a particular focus on its sizeable Greater China operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the tax framework for the group's Asian entities, making sure positions match local laws and group tax policy and that tax risks are identified and managed early.
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient structures for regional operations, including for restructurings, incentive programmes and cross-border transactions.
  • Advise senior management and the board on the tax implications of M&A, investments, divestments and new business initiatives.
  • Lead transfer pricing across the region, including documentation, benchmarking and economic analysis that support group pricing policies.
  • Manage the group's Country-by-Country Reporting and work towards BEPS Pillar Two readiness.
  • Run the regional tax compliance calendar so returns are filed on time, and coordinate with finance teams, external advisors and tax authorities, including during audits and enquiries.
  • Track tax developments across Asia and China and turn them into practical recommendations for the business.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Tax or a related field, with at least 8 years of tax experience, with a mix of Big 4 and in-house experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of international and cross-border tax, transfer pricing and BEPS, with hands-on experience structuring businesses across multiple Asian jurisdictions.
  • Comfortable dealing with tax authorities, plus strong commercial sense, project management and stakeholder management skills. Able to work independently and connect tax planning with tax accounting and compliance.
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin, to work with the group's China-based entities.
