About the Role
The Group Head of Engineering is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across HMI Medical's software engineering and quality assurance (QA) functions. The role encompasses oversight of multiple engineering domains supporting the Group's product suite, including Digital Health mobile applications, AI-based solutions, and Smart Hospital systems. This role plays a pivotal part in driving engineering excellence, talent development, and delivery execution to support the Group's integrated healthcare digital transformation agenda. The Head of Engineering will partner and work closely with Product, UI/UX, and Solution Delivery teams to ensure alignment between business strategy, product vision, and technical delivery.
Responsibilities
Strategic and Technical Leadership
- Lead the Group's engineering organization comprising more than 50 members across Digital Health, AI Solutions, and Smart Hospital domains.
- Develop and execute the Group's engineering strategy aligned with digital health and smart hospital objectives.
- Oversee architecture design, software development, technical debt strategy and product delivery to ensure scalability, reliability, and compliance with healthcare and other regulatory standards.
- Establish technical frameworks, coding standards, and DevOps best practices to support high-quality, efficient engineering operations.
- Drive the adoption of agile development methodologies, continuous integration, and automated testing processes.
Team and People Leadership
- Build and scale high performing engineering teams in at least two engineering hub locations.
- Build, develop, and mentor a team of engineering managers and senior engineers to strengthen technical capability and leadership depth.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation across geographically dispersed teams.
- Champion continuous learning, skill enhancement, and leadership pipeline development within the engineering organization.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Alignment
- Partner with the Product teams to translate business goals into executable technical roadmaps.
- Collaborate with the Head of UI/UX to design and implement intuitive, patient-centered digital experiences.
- Work closely with Solution Delivery teams to ensure product readiness, seamless client implementations and user adoption.
- Support the Digital Health and Smart Hospital program offices to deliver on B2B2C integration goals.
Operational Excellence and Governance
- Oversee project timelines, resource planning, and budget management for engineering initiatives.
- Implement quality assurance and release management processes to ensure reliable product performance.
- Monitor key engineering KPIs such as velocity, uptime, defect rates, and release quality.
- Ensure effective collaboration and dependency management across internal and external stakeholders.
Innovation and Technology Advancement
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies (e.g., AI, data analytics, automation) to enhance product capabilities and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving delivery agility, scalability, and technical excellence.
- Contribute to the Group's digital transformation roadmap through technical innovation and systems integration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering leadership role.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale, multi-product engineering teams (50+ people).
- Strong technical background in system architecture, mobile/web application development, and cloud-based platforms.
- Experience in healthcare, fintech, or enterprise SaaS environments is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational transformation, build cross-functional alignment, and deliver complex projects.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and business audiences.
