Job Description

Our client is a leading manufacturing group seeking an experienced and commercially driven Group Financial Controller to lead its group finance function and partner closely with the Group CEO and Board. This is a high-impact leadership role that goes beyond traditional financial control, with responsibility for driving business performance, manufacturing finance, cash generation, working-capital optimisation, governance and finance transformation.

The successful candidate will lead a 20-member finance team and oversee Group reporting, consolidation, controllership, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, tax, audit and governance. Working closely with Operations and Commercial teams, the role will focus on improving EBITDA, margins, productivity and profitability, while strengthening manufacturing costing, variance analysis and operational performance metrics. The individual will also drive cash conversion and free cash flow, oversee treasury and financing activities, and provide clear performance insights to the CEO and Board.

The role also offers significant scope to shape the future of the finance function, including ERP optimisation, automation, BI, data analytics and practical application of AI. The Financial Controller will be expected to support broader strategic initiatives including M&A, due diligence, refinancing and value-creation programmes, while positioning Finance as a true commercial partner to the business.

Ideally, you are Accounting degree holder/ ACCA with 10–12+ years of experience, ideally gained within precision engineering, industrial manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, electronics, machinery or other complex manufacturing environments. Candidates should bring strong expertise across group consolidation, controllership, FP&A and manufacturing finance, together with a proven track record in margin improvement, working-capital optimisation and cash-flow generation. Experience within a relevant sector and performance-driven environment will be highly relevant, along with the ability to lead and develop a sizeable finance team and engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
