Group Accountant (Shipping/Maritime Industry Only)
We are working with a shipping and maritime group in Singapore that is looking to strengthen its finance team. This role offers broad exposure across group and vessel accounting, with close interaction with operations and technical stakeholders in a commercial shipping environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet reconciliations
- Review vessel and group-level accounts prepared internally or by external managers to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Support year-end audit processes, including schedules, documentation, and audit queries
- Review operating expenses and perform variance analysis against budgets and forecasts
- Assist in annual budgeting and periodic forecasting, working closely with operations and technical teams
- Monitor vessel-related costs and provide clear explanations on variances and key drivers
- Support payment reviews, fund requests, and cost verification where required
- Partner with internal stakeholders across finance, operations, and technical teams to resolve accounting and cost-related queries
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting and special projects, including drydock or major cost reviews
Key Requirements
- 3-5 years of accounting experience within shipping, maritime, ship management, or related industries
- Experience with management accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Exposure to vessel accounting or operational cost tracking is preferred but not mandatory
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA) is an advantage
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting or ERP systems
- Detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working with operational stakeholders
- Able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance teams
