Global Tax Lead
We are seeking a Global Tax Lead to provide corporate tax leadership for one or more of the company's key business groups. The organisation is experiencing fast international growth, expanding across new markets, entering into strategic partnerships, and having to navigate such growth in an increasingly dynamic and complex global tax environment.
Sitting within the group levelcorporate tax function, this role requires a candidate with strategic foresight and proactive planning to provide guidance and oversight to the business group(s) and its regional tax teams, supporting commercial decisions while ensuring alignment with group tax governance and objectives.
A key objective of the role is to optimise the business group's tax position and ensure tax efficiency through tax-efficient structuring of cross-border operations and trade flows, while adapting to evolving market conditions and regulatory changes. The role requires anticipating macro and geopolitical shifts and implementing proactive strategies to keep the business at the forefront of tax efficiency and compliance.
Strategic Tax Leadership
- Drive and implement the tax strategy for the assigned business group, ensuring alignment with corporate tax policies and governance frameworks.
- Provide corporate tax leadership and guidance to the business group and its local tax teams, supporting commercial decisions and expansion initiatives.
- Lead initiatives to optimise the business group's effective tax rate through tax-efficient structuring of cross-border operations and trading flows.
- Monitor and anticipate macro, geopolitical, and regulatory developments, proactively advising the business on implications and strategic responses.
- Lead regional and global tax initiatives that support sustainable growth and operational efficiency.
Tax Compliance and Risk Management
- Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of tax filings and declarations across the business group.
- Guide local teams on tax provisioning, reporting, and compliance processes, ensuring strong governance and adherence to best practices.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks while maintaining robust internal controls and governance frameworks.
Tax Planning and Advisory
- Provide strategic tax planning guidance on cross-border transactions, operating structures, and market entry strategies.
- Partner with commercial, finance, and legal teams to provide tax advisory support on key business initiatives, including expansions, partnerships, and internal restructuring.
- Oversee tax audits and engagements with services providers and authorities, coordinating with local teams and external advisors.
Operational Excellence
- Promote global tax best practices and governance standards across the business group.
- Drive process and system improvements to enhance efficiency, transparency, and reporting.
- Support the development of tax capabilities and knowledge sharing between corporate and regional teams.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and mentor business group tax teams, providing technical guidance on complex tax matters.
- Foster collaboration between corporate and regional tax teams to ensure alignment and consistent application of best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Degree from a reputable university in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in international tax, within multinational organisations or leading advisory firms.
- Deep expertise in international tax, cross-border structuring, and transfer pricing, with a strong track record in optimising effective tax rates.
- Experience in fast-growing manufacturing, trading, or FMCG businesses with multi-jurisdiction operations.
- Commercially astute and analytically strong, able to navigate complex tax environments and deliver tax-efficient solutions aligned with business strategy.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead, mentor, and guide regional tax teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
