Job Description

This role sits within SK Energy International.

About SK Energy International (SKEI)
SKEI markets and trades crude oil and petroleum products. The company was incorporated in 1990 and is based in Singapore. SK energy international operates as a subsidiary of SK trading international.

The Naphtha Trader will be a member of the Distillates Business department, reporting to the Team Leader and supporting SK Energy International's commodities trading business, in particular Naphtha products. Responsibilities include:

[Naphtha Trading]

  • Trade naphtha to maximize profits and achieve the targeted team goals
  • Trading profit maximization through 1) strategizing sustainable business flows and profit models, 2) conducting necessary marketing activities (including overseas business trips) and 3) adequate risk management
  • All strategies are discussed and decided closely with the Team Leader

[Business Support]

  • Identify and develop new trading opportunities and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Ability to expand trading activities by developing strategic model based on deep knowledge and global network of the market
  • Provide other traders with technical and fundamental market information and recommend methods of hedging and leveraging its position
  • Provides market analysis and reporting as required
  • MTM, P&L experiences are essential
  • Demurrage experience and knowledge are essential
  • Performance management analysis and management reporting are beneficial

  • Adhere to all internal and external regulatory requirements and limits

Candidate Profile

A self-motivated individual who values integrity, have willing brain engagement in going the extra mile to provide excellence, creating happiness and value to stakeholders. A strong candidate should possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Finance or other relevant qualifications with strong mathematical inclination or equivalent
  • Minimally 8 years of relevant working experience in the Energy sector
  • Minimally 5 years of Naphtha trading and operations experience
  • Minimally 3 years of MTM and demurrage experience and knowledge
  • Performance management analysis and management reporting are beneficial
  • Possess relevant experience in developing trade strategies such as spreads and arbitrage
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills to assimilate complex and ambiguous data to identify key issues and aid in decision making
  • Highly motivated individual who exhibits strong integrity, work ethics and ability to multi-task and perform under pressure
  • Effective team player (ability to work both independently and collaboratively) with excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal skills and strong stakeholder management skills
  • Effective team player with a can-do attitude and global mindset and network
