Role Purpose

The Global Category Manager – Electrical is responsible for refining and executing the global electrical category strategy across our high-tech construction projects and manufacturing operations. A key focus is the negotiation and implementation of global Master Framework Agreements with strategic suppliers to drive long-term value, cost efficiency, and supply reliability—while advancing category maturity and maximizing value over time. The role works in close partnership with engineering, commercial, and operational teams across all business units. The ideal candidate offers deep expertise in HV, MV, and LV electrical procurement within multinational EPC or industrial environments, strong commercial acumen, and a proven ability to manage complex global supplier relationships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Refine, execute, and maintain the global electrical category strategy to align with business needs across all business units, providing strategic value creation and supporting long-term category development and growth.
  • Negotiate and implement global Master Framework Agreements with key strategic suppliers to deliver commercial value, ensure supply chain reliability, and align with procurement and business objectives.
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for the global electrical category across the Exyte Group, managing multi-level strategic supplier relationships to drive project performance, schedule compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to ensure category strategies meet technical specifications, project requirements, and operational needs across all business units.
  • Identify and mitigate supply risks while optimizing total cost of ownership and advancing category maturity through data-driven insights and market intelligence
  • Monitor global market trends, technologies, and supply chain developments in the electrical category (HV, MV, LV) to inform strategy refinement and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Utilize procurement tools and platforms (e.g., SAP, Ariba, analytics dashboards) to track supplier performance, optimize spend visibility, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with business units and project teams to align electrical procurement activities with broader project goals, ensuring value delivery, risk mitigation, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders including engineering, construction, operations, and finance to ensure procurement strategies are fully integrated and supported across functions

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in procurement or category management with a focus on electrical equipment (HV, MV, LV), preferably within a multinational EPC or industrial organization.
  • Extensive experience negotiating and managing global framework agreements with strategic suppliers, driving commercial value, supplier performance, and long-term category development.
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of electrical systems and equipment, including relevant industry standards, specifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing category strategies that align with engineering, project, and operational objectives across global business units.
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions (engineering, operations, finance) and build trust with internal and external partners.
  • Experience with procurement systems and tools (e.g., SAP, Ariba), leveraging data-driven insights to enhance supplier performance, support strategic decision-making, and proactively manage supply chain risks.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, CPM, or equivalent) are strongly preferred
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) is required; proficiency in German or other languages is considered an advantage.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical equipment and systems (HV, MV, LV), including key industry standards, specifications, and certification requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of global sourcing, category strategy development, and supplier relationship management within complex, multinational environments.
  • Proven ability to conduct commercial analysis and supplier performance evaluations, identifying cost-saving opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
