Job Description

Role Context

This role supports the development and delivery of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects in emerging and frontier markets, with a particular focus on thermal power plant EPC projects.

The position requires strong capabilities in project management, commercial support, market development, and stakeholder coordination, as well as experience working within complex international EPC environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning and Decision Support

  • Assist senior management in strategic planning and decision-making processes.

  • Support the development of long-term business strategies and short-term operational plans based on global energy market trends, industry dynamics, and company resources.

  • Contribute to defining market positioning and overseas business development direction.

  • Assist in analyzing political, economic, regulatory, and competitive environments in overseas markets.

  • Support the identification of potential market opportunities and risks to inform investment decisions and project planning.

2. Market Development and Project Opportunity Support

  • Assist in the formulation and execution of overseas market development and promotion strategies.

  • Support initiatives to enhance the company's brand awareness and market presence in targeted regions.

  • Participate in overseas market research and analysis, including customer needs, competitor activities, and industry trends.

  • Provide analytical input to support business optimization and project opportunity assessment.

  • Assist in maintaining relationships with overseas clients, partners, and industry organizations.

  • Support participation in international exhibitions, conferences, and industry events to identify potential project opportunities.

3. Bid and Tender Support

  • Assist in project bidding and tendering activities, supporting timely and high-quality submission of bids.

  • Participate in preliminary project evaluation, including opportunity and risk analysis, and provide input to bid/no-bid assessments.

  • Assist in the development of bidding strategies, pricing approaches, technical solution directions, partner selection, and financing frameworks for major projects.

  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners as required to support bid preparation.

  • Support the preparation and consolidation of bid documents, including technical proposals, commercial terms, pricing documents, and qualification materials.

  • Ensure bid documentation is accurate, complete, compliant, and aligned with project requirements.

  • Review project cost estimates, risk assessments, and pricing proposals, providing professional feedback and recommendations.

  • Participate in client presentations, bid clarifications, and negotiation discussions as required.

4. Contract Negotiation and Execution Support

  • Assist senior management in developing EPC contract negotiation strategies, based on standard contract models such as FIDIC.

  • Support contract negotiations with clients on commercial, technical, legal, payment, guarantee, insurance, claims, and dispute resolution terms.

  • Assist in identifying key contractual risks, including political, legal, financial, execution, and payment risks.

  • Coordinate with legal, technical, and financial teams to support risk evaluation and mitigation planning.

  • Support the contract finalization and signing process.

  • Assist in the handover of signed contract documentation, negotiation records, and key client requirements to project execution teams to ensure smooth project commencement.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction or EPC project management.

  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior or managerial role.

  • Experience supporting strategic decision-making and managing complex EPC-related tasks.

  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts.

  • Experience with EPC projects, preferably in thermal power plant or energy infrastructure projects.

  • Exposure to projects in overseas, emerging, or frontier markets is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies

1. Business Development and Commercial Support

  • Ability to support identification and development of new business opportunities.

  • Experience assisting in proposal preparation, bidding, and client presentations.

  • Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.

2. Project and Technical Management

  • Solid understanding of construction methodologies, equipment, and materials.

  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and EPC contracts.

3. Communication and Collaboration

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good negotiation and coordination capabilities.

  • Ability to work effectively with internal teams, external partners, and clients.

4. EPC Industry Knowledge

  • Good understanding of the EPC business model, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project management processes.

  • Knowledge of thermal power plant EPC projects, including relevant technologies, systems, and equipment.

  • Sufficient engineering knowledge to communicate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.
