Job Summary
We are seeking a results-driven and experienced General Manager to oversee the entire operations of our carpentry business. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of woodworking processes, and a passion for delivering high standards in project execution, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production
. Lead and manage day-to-day carpentry workshop operations, including production scheduling, material planning, and quality control.
. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet client specifications.
. Monitor and optimize workflow, manpower allocation, and machinery utilization.
Project & Client Management
. Coordinate with project teams, contractors, designers, and clients to ensure smooth execution of carpentry works.
. Review technical drawings and site requirements to plan production timelines.
. Resolve operational or technical issues that arise during production or installation.
Business & Financial Oversight
. Develop and manage budgets, cost controls, and profitability targets.
. Oversee procurement and inventory management of raw materials and supplies.
. Identify business growth opportunities and lead strategic planning initiatives.
Team Leadership
. Supervise and motivate workshop supervisors, foremen, carpenters, and support staff.
. Ensure proper training, safety practices, and performance evaluations are in place.
. Build a strong, quality-focused, and safety-conscious work culture.
Compliance & Safety
. Ensure all operations comply with regulatory standards, including workplace safety (WSH) and environmental requirements.
. Maintain ISO/QA/QC standards where applicable.
Requirements
. Proven experience (minimum 5-8 years) in carpentry, joinery, or furniture manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
. Strong knowledge of woodworking machinery, production flow, and technical drawings.
. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
. Familiarity with Singapore's building and construction industry is a plus.
. Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
. Proficient in Microsoft Office knowledge of AutoCAD or woodworking ERP software is an advantage.
Working Conditions
. Based at the production site/workshop with occasional site visits.
. 5.5-day work week or as required by project timelines.
