Job Description

Roles of General Manager:

  • Leadership Role - Provides direction and motivation to staff, ensuring organizational goals are met.
  • Strategic Role - Develops and implements business strategies to drive growth and profitability.
  • Operational Role - Oversees daily operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with standards.
  • Financial Role - Manages budgets, financial planning, and cost control to maximize revenue and minimize expenses.
  • Liaison Role - Acts as the link between top management, employees, and sometimes customers or stakeholders.
  • Decision-Making Role - Makes key decisions related to operations, staffing, investments, and organizational direction.
  • Change Management Role - Leads transformation, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities of a General Manager:

  • Strategic Planning & Execution
    Develop and implement long-term and short-term business strategies.
    Identify opportunities for growth, expansion, or improvement.
  • Operations Management
    Oversee daily business activities across departments.
    Ensure operational efficiency, quality standards, and customer satisfaction.
  • Financial Management
    Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
    Monitor costs, revenue, and profitability.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    Recruit, train, and develop employees.
    Build a strong team culture and ensure performance management.
  • Sales & Marketing Oversight
    Drive business development, marketing strategies, and sales targets.
    Maintain strong customer and client relationships.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    Ensure adherence to legal, safety, and industry regulations.
    Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder Communication
    Report to executives, board members, or business owners.
    Maintain relationships with suppliers, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Performance Monitoring
    Track KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and business metrics.
    Implement corrective actions when targets are not met.
