Job Description

## 1. Strategic Planning & Execution

The GM sets the direction for the business and ensures all departments are aligned with company goals.

  • Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing long-term business strategies to achieve growth and sustainability.

  • Goal Setting: Establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and departmental objectives.

  • Market Analysis: Monitoring industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions to identify new opportunities.

## 2. Financial Management

A primary responsibility of the GM is the financial health of the organization.

  • P&L Responsibility: Managing the Profit and Loss (P&L) statement to ensure the business remains profitable.

  • Budgeting: Overseeing the annual budget process and ensuring departments stay within financial limits.

  • Cost Control: Identifying areas for cost reduction and optimizing resource allocation.

## 3. Operational Oversight

The GM ensures that day-to-day operations run smoothly and efficiently.

  • Process Improvement: Streamlining internal workflows to increase productivity and reduce lead times.

  • Supply Chain & Logistics: Overseeing procurement, inventory management, and distribution (especially critical in trading/wholesale sectors).

  • Policy Development: Implementing and enforcing company policies, safety standards, and legal compliance.

## 4. Leadership & Human Resources

The GM acts as the bridge between senior leadership and the rest of the staff.

  • Team Development: Hiring, mentoring, and training department managers and future leaders.

  • Performance Management: Conducting performance reviews and fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Internal Communication: Facilitating clear communication between different departments (e.g., Sales, Finance, Administration).

## 5. Business Development & Stakeholder Relations

GMs often represent the face of the company to external parties.

  • Client Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with key clients, vendors, and partners.

  • Reporting: Providing regular updates, financial reports, and strategic insights to the Board of Directors or business owners.

  • Brand Management: Ensuring the company's reputation and brand image are upheld in the market.
