General Manager - Luxury Design Consultancy

We are a boutique luxury design consultancy specializing in high-end projects. Our work focuses on refined aesthetics, meticulous detailing, and exceptional client service.

Our team includes a Creative Director, Architectural Designer, Senior Interior Designer, Draftsmen, and Administrative support. As our studio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced General Manager to strengthen operations, streamline processes, and support the delivery of high-quality design projects.

Role Overview

The General Manager will oversee the daily operations of the studio, ensuring projects, teams, and internal systems run efficiently. This role focuses on leadership, structure, and business management, working closely with the Creative Director to maintain the studio's standards and reputation.

The ideal candidate has significant experience within the interior design, architecture, or design consultancy industry and has successfully managed multidisciplinary design teams.

Key Responsibilities

Studio & Operations Management

  • Oversee the daily operations of the design studio
  • Ensure smooth coordination between the Creative Director, design team, and administrative staff
  • Implement and refine studio procedures, documentation standards, and internal workflows
  • Improve operational efficiency and ensure timely delivery of projects

Team Leadership

  • Manage a team of design professionals including:
  • Creative Director
  • Project Manager
  • Architectural Designer
  • Senior Interior Designer
  • Draftsmen
  • Administrative staff
  • Provide clear leadership, accountability, and structure
  • Maintain a professional, disciplined, and collaborative work environment

Business & Financial Management

  • Develop and implement compensation structures and commission systems
  • Review and refine project fee structures, cost control, and profitability
  • Monitor studio financial performance including project profitability, operational costs and resource allocation.
  • Work with leadership to ensure financial sustainability and growth, such as improving financial planning, budgeting and revenue forecasting.

Project Oversight

  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and quality control
  • Ensure projects meet client expectations and luxury design standards
  • Assist in resolving operational or coordination challenges

Process Development

  • Review current company procedures and propose improvements
  • Implement stronger project management systems
  • Establish clear internal standards for documentation, deliverables, and communication

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the interior design, architecture, or design consultancy industry
  • Proven experience managing design teams or studios
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Design Management, or related field
  • Strong operational and leadership skills
  • Ability to implement structured systems and enforce procedures
  • Strong financial awareness and experience with project fees and commission structures
  • Professional, firm leadership style with excellent communication skills
