The Gallery Associate (Sales & Marketing) plays a key role in supporting the gallery's commercial and promotional activities. The role combines sales engagement, client relations, and marketing execution to drive visibility and revenue growth. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, and passionate about art, with an eye for both aesthetics and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Client Relations
- Assist in selling artworks to clients, institutions, and corporate collectors, both in-gallery and online.
- Support the Gallery Director in client outreach, follow-ups, and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Manage inventory presentation, pricing updates, and sales documentation.
- Provide personalized consultation and recommendations to collectors.
- Coordinate logistics and installation for sold artworks when needed.
Marketing & Communications
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote artists, exhibitions, and events.
- Manage the gallery's digital platforms (website, social media, newsletters, and online art platforms).
- Create engaging visual and written content to strengthen brand presence and online visibility.
- Liaise with media partners, influencers, and art fair organizers for promotional opportunities.
- Assist in exhibition planning-press releases, invitations, catalogues, and private previews.
Administration & Operations
- Support day-to-day gallery operations including visitor reception and inquiries.
- Maintain client and artwork databases.
- Assist during exhibition setup, openings, and art fairs.
REQUIREMENT
- Min. 1-2 years of experience in sales, administration, and/or marketing.
- Diploma or graduate in Art Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English & Mandarin to liaise with clients
- Strong knowledge of the gallery world and of modern and contemporary art
- PC Literate: MS Office Applications, Adobe Photoshop
- Willing to learn and use the various gallery management software and systems
- Customer orientated with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Resourceful, highly motivated, meticulous, able to undertake pressure and able to work independently
- Must be extremely well presented, polished, professional and articulate
- Must have ability to effectively interact with and gain the confidence of clients, artists and internal staffs
- Knowledge on inventory control is an advantage
- Solid negotiation skills
- Must be able to work on weekends and public holidays
- Experience in the auction house or gallery or high-end boutique is advantageous
