Functional Business Analyst, Digital Banking/Finance (5-12 month renewable contract)

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Business Unit Specialists and key stakeholders to elicit, review, validate, and document business requirements.
• Lead business discovery to understand business needs, existing capabilities, processes, gaps, constraints, dependencies, and future-state requirements.
• Analyse current and future-state business and operational processes and perform impact assessments based on agreed requirements.
• Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, process designs, and functional specifications.
• Define capability scope, customer/user journeys, business capabilities, and capability-to-feature/epic mappings where required.
• Assess and estimate the impact of project change requests, including scope, process, system, and operational implications.
• Challenge assumptions, distinguish business needs from stakeholder wants, and drive alignment on scope and solution outcomes.
• Coordinate requirements and solution design across business, design, technology, operations, and testing teams.
• Advise stakeholders on solution options, trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and potential business impacts.
• Prepare business cases, solution plans, ITC documentation, and other supporting project artefacts.
• Translate business requirements into comprehensive functional specifications for System Analysts and technology teams.
• Manage requirements, scope, risks, issues, changes, dependencies, and end-to-end requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain traceability between business requirements, functional specifications, test coverage, and delivered solutions.
• Assess operational impacts and support implementation readiness.
• Work closely with technology and project teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and solutions remain aligned with business needs.
• Review test plans and functional test scope to ensure adequate coverage of business requirements.
• Support SIT and UAT activities, including test-case validation, defect prioritisation, tracking, investigation, and resolution.
• Provide functional clarification throughout the project lifecycle, from discovery and requirements gathering through implementation.
• Drive effective collaboration across business and technology stakeholders and support the resolution of complex functional issues.
• Drive decisions and outcomes while working through ambiguity and within tight project timelines.

Key Requirements

• 10–15+ years of experience in Business Analysis / Functional Business Analysis, with a strong track record in banking and/or financial services projects.
• Proven experience across multiple full project delivery cycles, from discovery and requirements through implementation.
• Strong experience in requirements gathering, functional analysis, impact assessment, process design, and functional specification.
• Ability to independently research existing documentation, processes, systems, and organisational knowledge to identify capabilities and constraints.
• Strong ability to interview business stakeholders and subject-matter experts to uncover requirements, existing capabilities, and operational constraints.
• Experience translating business needs into functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, process designs, and functional specifications.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end project lifecycle, change management, and project delivery.
• Experience managing requirements, scope, risks, issues, dependencies, changes, and requirements traceability.
• Experience supporting SIT and UAT, including test scope review, test-case validation, defect prioritisation, and resolution.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.
• Ability to constructively challenge assumptions, influence stakeholders, and drive alignment towards practical and achievable outcomes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business and functional requirements.
• Strong proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint for analysis, reporting, documentation, and presentations.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
• Passionate, diligent, and resilient, with the ability to work effectively through ambiguity and changing requirements.
• Experience in Agile delivery and regional banking projects will be an advantage.
