Full-Time Faculty, Assistant Professor in Philosophy, School of Social Sciences (SOSS)

The School of Social Sciences, Singapore Management University, invites applications for two positions at the Assistant Professor rank (education track). Candidates must have expertise and research interests in either moral philosophy, political philosophy, social philosophy, or comparative philosophy. Candidates must also be able to teach an introductory course in critical thinking. The ability to teach introductory ethics is also highly desirable.

These positions require a doctorate in Philosophy and teaching experience at the tertiary level. We are seeking candidates with demonstrated excellent teaching ability, as well as a good scholarly research record. Education track faculty teach six course sections per academic year, which is approximately nine hours of teaching per week for each semester. Course sections are capped at no more than 48 students. In addition to teaching, education track faculty are also expected to engage in research and perform internal service activities such as curriculum design and review.

Singapore Management University is a research university committed to a multidisciplinary and integrated curriculum. Salary and benefits, such as a housing allowance, and research support, are highly competitive.
