01 Digital builds AI agents and enterprise software for Singapore SMEs and established organisations. Over the past three years, we've worked with more than 40 businesses across Southeast Asia and EMEA, with clients in wellness, healthcare, retail, education and safety consultancy.

We work closely with the people running these organisations to understand their operations and build software around their needs. We're growing our engineering team to deliver AI applications and business systems for larger clients.

The role

You'll work with our founder, Engineering Lead and fellow engineers to build AI agents, internal tools, content management systems and CRM platforms. You'll independently plan and deliver features across the frontend and backend, owning your work through testing, deployment and ongoing operation.

You'll report to the Engineering Lead, who provides technical direction and reviews key decisions. You'll contribute to planning, code reviews and engineering standards across the team.

What you'll do

. Turn business requirements into technical plans, break features into tasks, estimate effort and identify dependencies.

. Build web interfaces, backend services, APIs and integrations with external systems.

. Design database models and implement business workflows, authentication and access controls.

. Develop AI agents that use business data, tools and external services to carry out defined tasks. Build retrieval and context management into their workflows.

. Test application behaviour and AI outputs, including edge cases, failures and recovery. Review code and document technical decisions.

. Deploy and monitor your features, investigate production issues and improve reliability, performance and maintainability.

. Communicate progress and blockers, coordinate with other engineers and use AI development tools while taking responsibility for the code you ship.

What you'll bring

. 4-7 years of professional software engineering experience, including independent delivery of full stack features.

. At least one year of hands-on AI application development experience and practical knowledge of building agents.

. Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills, with experience building React frontends and Node.js backend services.

. Experience designing APIs, integrating third-party services and working with databases.

. Working knowledge of LLM APIs, tool calling, structured outputs, retrieval and context management. Familiarity with AI application libraries and the trade-offs involved in choosing them.

. Experience testing, deploying, monitoring and troubleshooting production software.

. The ability to explain technical decisions, review AI-generated code critically and identify decisions that need input from the Engineering Lead.

. Clear written communication and reliable coordination within a remote engineering team.

Preferred experience

. Shipping and maintaining AI agents in production, including evaluating their behaviour and improving reliability, latency and cost.

. Deploying and operating applications on Azure or AWS.

. Building CMS, CRM or internal enterprise applications.

. Working with technologies used across our projects: Next.js, Hono or Express PostgreSQL and Prisma MongoDB Redis and background job queues Directus Mastra, AI SDK or Langfuse.

Working at 01 Digital

You'll work directly with the founder and Engineering Lead in a small engineering team, with ownership of features used in client operations. The work spans AI development and full stack engineering across different industries, giving you scope to build new systems and improve existing applications.

This is a fully remote, permanent role. We welcome international applicants working within time zones similar to Malaysia, India and Vietnam.
