Role Description:

The Fractional Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will provide strategic technical leadership and oversight for AgroNest's agri-tech initiatives, operating on an equity-based engagement with milestones, performance, and targets-based monetary emoluments, and no fixed salary, cash compensation, or conventional benefits. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Singapore, with the flexibility to work remotely for part of the time, and is intended primarily for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, with equity vesting structured on a 3-year cliff and 5-year vesting schedule. Day-to-day responsibilities include defining and executing the technology roadmap, guiding architecture decisions, overseeing software and product development, and ensuring alignment between business goals and technology investments. The role involves managing cross-functional technical projects, establishing best practices for security, scalability, and reliability, and mentoring engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The CTO will also collaborate with founders, product leaders, and external partners to evaluate emerging technologies, drive innovation in agri-tech, and support fundraising and stakeholder communication on technical strategy.

Qualifications:

• Strong background in software development, with hands-on experience in building scalable platforms, APIs, and data-driven applications.
• Proven project management skills to lead complex, multi-stakeholder technology initiatives from concept to deployment and iteration.
• Expertise in IT strategy and technology governance, including long-term roadmap planning, risk management, and alignment with business objectives.
• Deep understanding of technology and systems architecture, particularly for cloud-based, data-intensive, and highly available solutions.
• Experience in product development, including translating user needs into technical requirements and collaborating closely with product and design teams.
• Prior leadership experience in a CTO, technical founder, or senior engineering role within startups or high-growth technology organizations.
• Familiarity with agri-tech, sustainability-focused technologies, IoT, data analytics, or related domains is highly beneficial.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment in Singapore, demonstrating strong communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
