Job Description

Job Title: Financial Director

Location: Singapore

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a strategic and highly experienced Financial Director to join our leadership team. The Financial Director will play a critical role in overseeing the financial health of the company, providing strategic financial leadership, and ensuring robust financial planning, reporting, and analysis. This position will involve managing financial operations, guiding financial decision-making, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will work closely with other senior leaders to shape the company's financial strategy and drive sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Strategy & Planning:
  • Lead the development of financial strategies and long-term financial planning in alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to the CEO and other executives on financial planning and budgeting to support business growth and profitability.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial forecasts, annual budgets, and financial models to support strategic decision-making.
  1. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial performance, including profitability, costs, and return on investment, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor key financial metrics, providing guidance on the company's financial performance and identifying areas for optimization.
  1. Cash Flow & Capital Management:
  • Oversee cash flow management, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational needs and strategic investments.
  • Manage capital structure, including debt and equity financing, to support growth initiatives and business operations.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and capital expenditures, ensuring alignment with the company's financial strategy.
  1. Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, tax laws, and international financial standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Lead the company's risk management efforts, identifying financial risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  1. Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Provide guidance and training to finance staff to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other key financial partners.
  1. Business Partnering & Strategic Decision Support:
  • Act as a trusted business partner to senior leadership, providing financial insight and guidance for business decisions, including pricing, investments, and cost control.
  • Evaluate business performance, identify areas for operational improvement, and recommend financial strategies to optimize profitability and efficiency.
  • Work closely with department heads to ensure financial goals align with the overall business objectives.
  1. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A):
  • Support the evaluation and execution of mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships, providing financial due diligence and integrating new businesses effectively.
  • Lead the negotiation of financial terms and structuring deals to maximize value for the company.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or Master's in Finance is a plus).
  • CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification is highly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Finance Manager, Finance Director).
  • Proven experience in financial management, reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
  • Extensive experience with financial forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling.
  • Experience managing cash flow, capital, and financial risk in a growing company.
  • Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on driving performance and development.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in an international or multi-market company with a deep understanding of global financial regulations and operations.
  • Experience with M&A activities or fundraising.
  • Familiarity with financial technology solutions and digital finance transformation.
