Financial Controller

The Role
The Financial Controller will play a critical role in managing the financial operations, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning for the company. This senior finance leader will work closely with key departments such as actuarial and investment teams, ensuring the company's financial health while driving operational efficiency. This role requires an individual capable of managing accounting, financial reporting, and shaping policies to maintain a strong control environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely group, statutory, and regulatory reporting (including CPF, MAS, and Fund Reporting).
- Oversee all tax filings (GST, WHT, Corporate Tax) and manage tax risks, representing the company in relevant industry tax bodies.
- Lead the financial control environment, identifying risks and collaborating with internal Risk and Audit teams for resolution.
- Coordinate the preparation and review of Audit Committee and Board papers, ensuring high-quality deliverables such as audited financial statements and regulatory reports.
- Work with Regional and Group Technical teams to establish and maintain local accounting policies and financial controls.
- Manage financial reporting projects and implement new accounting standards (e.g., SFRS(I) 17).
- Provide leadership within the finance team, driving the execution of financial strategies in alignment with Group and Regional directives.
- Develop and mentor the finance and reporting teams, fostering a high-performance culture.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA) is mandatory.
- Experience: 10-15 years of experience in financial reporting, tax management, and financial control, ideally in the insurance sector.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, tax regulations, and accounting standards (e.g., SFRS(I)).
- Leadership: Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing teams, with excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across functions.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail and an ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Communication: Fluent in English with excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex financial data into actionable insights.
- Strategic & Hands-On: A strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to managing financial operations and overseeing accounting and reporting tasks.
