Job Description

The Opportunity

The Financial Analyst will serve as a core driver of financial modelling, investment analysis, and ROI evaluation, supporting strategic decision-making across complex commercial initiatives. The role is heavily focused on building robust financial models, evaluating capital allocation decisions, and assessing project viability under uncertainty.

This position partners closely with senior management and Sales and Commercial teams to ensure that all business opportunities are rigorously evaluated on a risk-adjusted return basis, with clear visibility on value creation, downside risks, and funding implications.

What you will do

Financial Modelling & Scenario Analysis (Core Focus):

  • Develop, own, and continuously enhance integrated financial models (3-statement / project-based models) to support business planning and investment decisions.

  • Perform advanced scenario and sensitivity analysis (e.g., pricing, volume, cost drivers, FX, funding structure) to assess financial impact under different operating conditions.

  • Translate commercial assumptions into structured financial outputs, including cash flow forecasts, IRR, NPV, and payback profiles.

  • Ensure models are dynamic, auditable, and scalable, with clear assumptions, drivers, and version control.

  • Lead end-to-end financial evaluation of projects, including greenfield investments, expansion initiatives, and commercial deals.

  • Develop discounted cash flow (DCF) models incorporating appropriate cost of capital, risk premiums, and project-specific assumptions.

Corporate FP&A & Business Partnering Support:

  • Support long-term planning, budgeting, and forecasting with strong emphasis on driver-based modelling.

  • Analyse financial and operational performance to identify value drivers, cost optimisation opportunities, and margin improvement levers.

  • Manage the full lifecycle of active grant programmes (e.g. RISC grant), including compliance tracking, milestone reporting, and claims submission.

  • Liaise with government agencies, grant bodies, and auditors as the primary finance point of contact.

  • Review commercial agreements by working closely with Contracts Manager for financial and legal risk exposure, including warranty terms, incoterms, and payment structures etc.

  • Identify and escalate financial risks arising from contractual commitments, ensuring alignment with company's risk appetite and financial position.

  • Any other ad hoc tasks as required.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accountancy, or a related discipline (other degrees may be considered with relevant experience).

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience across commercial finance/deal structuring and corporate FP&A.

  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts and revenue recognition principles.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint experience developing and/or automating forecast models and management reports.

  • Proficiency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is preferred, given regular liaison with China-based colleagues and stakeholders.

  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and precision comfortable working to tight deadlines.

  • Resourceful problem-solver with curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Fundraising and investor relations exposure is highly preferred.

  • Certified Pricing Professional (CPP) or similar certification is an added advantage.

  • Ability to translate data into clear visuals/infographics familiarity with large datasets and tools such as Power BI/Tableau/SQL is a plus.
