Job Description

Job Title: Finance Manager (Construction Industry)

Job Summary

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial health of construction projects and overall company operations. This role involves managing financial planning, budgeting, cost control, and reporting, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full set of accounts, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for construction projects and corporate operations.
  • Monitor project costs, revenue, and profitability, ensuring alignment with budget and contract terms.
  • Manage progress claims, project billing, subcontractor payments, and cost tracking.
  • Prepare monthly management reports, financial statements, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure strong cash flow management, including forecasting and working capital optimization.
  • Liaise with project managers, quantity surveyors, and senior management on financial performance and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations (e.g., GST), and statutory requirements.
  • Manage audits (internal and external), tax filings, and regulatory submissions.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Support contract evaluation and provide financial input for tenders and project bids.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA) is preferred.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong experience in construction or M&E industry finance is highly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of project accounting, cost control, and revenue recognition.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with contract management and tender costing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Strong leadership experience managing finance teams.
