Position Summary:
The Finance Manager supports the Group Controller in delivering the Group's financial reporting, consolidation, technical accounting and controlling agenda.
The role has two main parts. The first is acting as a trusted internal deputy to the Group Controller to uphold accounting policy compliance, strengthen internal controls, and drive continuous improvement in finance processes and reporting quality.
In addition, the Finance Manager oversees the end-to-end group consolidation process ensuring timely, accurate, and complete financial submissions for actual, budget, and forecast reporting cycles.
Success in this role requires the job holder to influence stakeholders through technical expertise and uphold reporting quality and deadlines with entity and regional finance teams through influence and technical credibility rather than direct line authority.
The role is also the designated process cover for the Group's consolidation cycle and is expected to be able to execute the closing at both sub-consolidation and Group level.
Job Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities
1. Financial Controls
- Establish and manage a periodic self-assessment program for key financial controls between internal audit reviews, enabling management to proactively identify and address control deficiencies before they are raised through formal audit processes.
- Own the Group-wide internal audit findings register, including standardisation of documentation, tracking severity and ageing, monitoring remediation progress, and reporting status updates to the Group Controller.
- Drive remediation of identified control gaps and significant deficiencies to closure with entity finance leaders, ahead of any period subject to a formal management assessment.
- Serve as the primary liaison with internal auditors, coordinating audit planning, management responses and follow up actions.
- Support the development, enhancement and ongoing maintenance of the Group risk and control matrix covering the significant financial reporting processes, including order to cash, procure to pay, inventory, payroll, treasury, tax, and close and consolidation, recording for each the risk, the control, the control owner, the frequency and the evidence required.
2. Group Reporting and Consolidation
- Review or prepare the Dornier sub-consolidation and management packs for completeness, accuracy, timeliness against the Group close calendar and compliance with Group accounting policies before they are taken into the Group consolidation.
- Partner Dornier regional and entity finance teams on accounting treatment, chart of accounts application and worktag discipline, driving consistency with Group standards.
- Support the Dornier sub-consolidation statutory audit process, including preparation and review of audit schedules and resolution of audit queries.
- execute the close for the Dornier sub-consolidation and, subsequently, for the AMTH Group consolidation. This covers submission chasing, running the consolidation, standard eliminations and consolidation adjustments, and production of the reporting pack.
- Support the Group month-end, quarter-end and year-end close and consolidation, including review of consolidation adjustments, eliminations and currency translation
- Support the preparation of Board, Audit and Risk Committee and Executive Management reporting, and of standardised management reporting and key performance indicator definitions.
3. Technical Accounting and Accounting Policy
- Maintain and continuously enhance the Group Accounting Manual, Group finance policies (GOPP) and chart of accounts governance, drafting or revising policies where gaps or misalignment with financial statement disclosures are identified.
- Drive alignment of SBU and entity accounting practice with the Group Accounting Manual and GOPP. This includes communicating policy changes to SBU finance teams, respond to interpretation questions, and monitoring compliance.
- Act as a trusted technical accounting advisor to SBU and entity finance teams, providing training, advisory support, and practical guidance to ensure accounting treatments are applied accurately at source and consistently across the Group.
- Monitor new and amended IFRS pronouncements, assess the impact on the Group and propose an implementation approach.
- Support the Group's IFRS 18 implementation, including mapping the chart of accounts to the operating, investing and financing categories, embedding category dimensions into the management reporting and consolidation structures, and planning and executing testing so that the comparative year is capturable on the new basis as transactions are booked rather than restated later.
4. Budget, Forecast and Plan Review
- Review SBU and sub-consolidation budget and forecast submissions for internal consistency and plausibility before they are taken into the Group consolidation, covering the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow.
- Review the budgeted and forecast balance sheet and cash flow against the profit and loss submission, including working capital movements against revenue and cost assumptions, capital expenditure against depreciation, and whether the resulting cash position, borrowing requirement and covenant headroom are plausible.
- Challenge submissions that are inconsistent with historical trends, year-to-date performance, or forecast expectations, and work with entity finance teams to investigate, explain, and resolve variances at source before consolidation.
- Support the mechanics of the budget and forecast cycle, including template design, submission timetable, instructions to SBUs and consolidation of the Group budget, forecast and long range plan.
Secondary Responsibilities:
1. Finance Process Improvement and Automation
- Standardise workflows, eliminate manual activities and implement automation to improve reporting efficiency, data quality and control.
- Support enhancements to the consolidation and planning systems, including reporting extraction, forecasting deployment and journal entry automation.
2.Ad-hoc Projects
- Support or lead strategic initiatives, transformation programmes, acquisitions and other projects.
Job Requirements:
Education/Qualifications
- Degree in Accountancy or equivalent.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in finance, accounting and reporting functions, including consolidation experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency group.
- Demonstrated experience in internal controls and control testing, and in finance process improvement or automation.
- Exposure to internal control over financial reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance or listing readiness is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience of executing a group or sub-group consolidation cycle end to end.
- Good working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, including recently issued and forthcoming standards.
Aptitude:
- Strong technical accounting judgement, able to reach a defensible conclusion and document it to a standard that withstands audit scrutiny.
- Able to hold reporting quality and deadlines with entity finance teams without direct line authority.
- Precise in framing and comfortable challenging loose reasoning, while remaining collaborative in tone with counterparties.
- Strong analytical mindset with a healthy degree of professional scepticism, able to identify anomalous or implausible financial results and proactively investigate them before they are escalated to management.
- Comfortable operating in dynamic environments with incomplete information, exercising sound judgement and proactively escalating risks, issues, or uncertainties in a timely manner.
Operational Skills:
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with a group consolidation or planning system (Workday, Adaptive Planning or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Able to work across all levels of employees and across geographies and time zones.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written.
