The Role
Tesla Motors Singapore is seeking a Field Support Engineering Intern in Singapore. The Service Engineering team is a key connection point between local service operation and the global based development teams. This position will support keeping our vehicles on the road through proactive analyses of the vehicle fleet, reducing time spent in service. This role works with large amounts of data to process information and draw correct conclusions in a timely manner. This role requires the candidate having technical understanding of diagnosing complex electromechanical systems with heavy software content and deployed in safety-critical applications. This engineering intern is passionate about diagnostics, thinks systemically and fast to learn. This position will report to the senior field support engineer in Singapore.

Responsibilities

  • Learn how to debug systems and perform diagnostics on field failures both remotely - looking at data logged by the vehicle, and directly in the field.
  • Support field issue investigation with a wide range of troubleshooting techniques and remote diagnosis. This position requires daily work for Singapore mainly and support for other regions in South-East Asia if necessary.
  • Regular collaboration with Regional Technical Specialists to ensure consistent and stable global service operations.
  • Provide data reports on local service metric, service campaign or answering for RFI (Request for Information) from authorities.
  • Support Product Support Engineers, Product Excellence, and Failure Analysis team members to perform further root cause analysis on field failures by component/subsystem owners where necessary. Focusing on regional differences seen across SEA markets.
  • Perform fleet validation of navigation, charging, autopilot or any sort of sanity check and provide written feedback to the respective engineers to drive future improvements.
  • Deploy scalable tools targeting prevalent repair trends to accelerate service operations.

  • In their final year of study towards a degree in Computer science, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering or similar
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
  • Capable of self-reliant working in a fast paced and always changing environment
  • Personality with hands-on-mentality and proactive way of working & thinking
  • The ability to keep an overview and improve processes
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skill
