Job Description
About the Role
ExaSynth is seeking a hands-on Field Service Engineer (Electrical & Automation) to support automated laboratory systems deployed at a research institute in Singapore.
This is an on-site engineering role focused on equipment reliability, electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, commissioning and day-to-day technical support. You will work directly with laboratory automation equipment, instruments and associated electrical/control systems.
The successful candidate will undergo approximately 1-2 months of structured hands-on technical training in China with our engineering and system integration team before taking on full site responsibilities in Singapore.
As the team grows, this role will also have the opportunity to support the training and onboarding of additional field engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Provide on-site technical support for automated laboratory equipment and systems
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and equipment faults
Inspect and troubleshoot wiring, power supplies, sensors, relays, motors, drivers and basic I/O/control components
Perform preventive maintenance, equipment checks and fault recovery
Support equipment installation, system integration, testing and commissioning
Coordinate with engineering teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues
Maintain maintenance records, service logs, troubleshooting guides and SOPs
Identify recurring equipment issues and support reliability improvements
Follow laboratory safety procedures and site requirements
Support knowledge transfer and training of future field engineers
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation or a related engineering discipline
- At least 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in field service, equipment maintenance, commissioning, automation or technical support
- Practical electrical troubleshooting skills and ability to use common electrical test tools such as a multimeter
- Comfortable working directly with equipment in an on-site laboratory environment
- Able to independently diagnose problems and follow systematic troubleshooting procedures
- Able to communicate effectively in English
- Able to communicate effectively in English.
- Able to communicate in Mandarin for technical coordination, training and troubleshooting with our China-based engineering team.
- Willing to travel occasionally for technical training, equipment commissioning or project support when required.

This position is intended to develop beyond routine equipment maintenance. After completing technical training and gaining sufficient site experience, the engineer may progressively take responsibility for site operations, technical documentation and the training of additional field engineers as the support team expands.
