Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a Field Engineer (Electrical / Automation Support) to deliver hands-on technical support for laboratory automation equipment at a research institute in Singapore. You will ensure equipment reliability, safety, and seamless daily operations by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and collaborating with engineers and researchers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site operational checks, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory automation equipment to ensure continuous functionality
  • Execute electrical and control system tasks including power supply and wiring inspections, sensor, motor, actuator diagnostics, and basic I/O troubleshooting to maintain equipment performance
  • Assist in equipment installation, testing, and commissioning to support deployment and operational readiness
  • Escalate unresolved technical issues promptly to senior engineers or overseas support teams to minimize downtime
  • Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, and technical documentation to support traceability and compliance
  • Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and support on-the-job learning within the team to enhance technical capabilities and operational efficiency

Required competencies

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • At least 1-3 years of hands-on experience in equipment support, field service, or technical maintenance roles involving electrical systems and troubleshooting
  • Effective communication skills in English to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness and ability to work on-site in a laboratory environment
  • Commitment to undergo an initial overseas training period (approximately 1-2 months)

Preferred competencies

  • Experience supporting laboratory, industrial, or automation equipment to enhance troubleshooting effectiveness
  • Familiarity with basic control systems or industrial equipment to improve operational support
  • Prior field support or service engineer experience to contribute to efficient technical issue resolution
