DESCRIPTION:

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll join a dedicated team providing world-class bioinformatics expertise and support to our Microarray (MA) and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) customers. As a Field Applications Scientist, Bioinformatics, you'll serve as a trusted technical advisor helping customers optimize their use of our advanced technologies across multiple scientific domains. In this role, you'll deliver exceptional pre-sales and post-sales support through computational analysis demonstrations, bioinformatics pipeline training, troubleshooting assistance with data analysis workflows, and technical consultation on genomics applications.

Working closely with sales teams and cross-functional partners, you'll help customers achieve significant discoveries while building long-term relationships that drive business success. REQUIREMENTS:

1. Education

  • Advanced Degree, no prior experience required or
    Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of hands-on bio-informatics experience with relevant instrumentation and applications
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science or a related discipline
  • Additional relevant certifications a plus

2. Experience

  • Proficiency in programming languages including Python in a UNIX/Linux environment
  • Experience with statistical computing languages such as R, and strong knowledge of SQL.
  • Familiar with a variety of public domain databases such as dbSNP, ClinVar, OMIM, etc.
  • Demonstrated expertise in field application support, customer training, and technical troubleshooting
  • Experience with data analysis, experimental design, and method development
  • Experience in performing Microarray and/or NGS wet lab experiments a plus.

3. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong presentation and communication skills for delivering technical content to diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across functions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence for understanding customer needs
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant scientific software
  • Fluency in English required additional language skills beneficial
  • Deep technical knowledge of specific product portfolio and applications
  • Understanding of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous learning
  • Ability to travel frequently (30-50% of time)
