About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Family Law Lawyer with at least 6 years post-qualification experience to join our practice in Singapore. The successful candidate will be capable of running a full family law caseload independently, from client intake through to resolution, with minimal supervision, while providing sound legal advice and strong advocacy before the Family Justice Courts.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a full portfolio of contentious and non-contentious family law files, from instructions to conclusion, with minimal partner oversight.
• Advise and represent clients in divorce proceedings (contested and uncontested), including ancillary matters such as division of matrimonial assets, spousal and child maintenance, and custody, care and control of children.
• Handle prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, deeds of separation, and cohabitation disputes.
• Represent clients in matters under the Guardianship of Infants Act, Women's Charter, and Child Development Co-Savings Act.
• Advise on international/cross-border family law issues, including relocation, international child abduction (Hague Convention matters), and foreign divorce recognition.
• Draft and settle pleadings, affidavits, consent orders, and settlement agreements without close supervision.
• Appear independently before the Family Justice Courts, including at case conferences, pre-trial conferences, mediation, and trial.
• Advise on adoption, personal protection orders (PPOs), and probate/estate matters connected to family disputes.
• Exercise independent judgment on litigation strategy, settlement positioning, and risk assessment for clients.
• Liaise directly with mediators, counsellors, and financial experts as part of a collaborative or therapeutic justice approach where appropriate.
• Manage client relationships end-to-end with sensitivity, discretion, and professionalism
• Mentor and supervise junior associates/paralegals on files as needed.
• Support business development and contribute to growing the firm's family law practice.
  
  

Requirements

• Qualified Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore, in possession of a valid Practising Certificate.
• Minimum 6 years PQE, with substantial hands-on family law experience.
• Demonstrated ability to run files independently — from client intake, strategy, drafting, negotiation, through to trial or settlement — without requiring close supervision.
• Strong track record handling divorce, ancillary matters, and children's issues before the Family Justice Courts.
• Solid working knowledge of the Women's Charter, Guardianship of Infants Act, and Family Justice Rules
  

Excellent drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills.

• High emotional intelligence and ability to manage sensitive, high-conflict client situations with empathy and discretion.
• Strong client management skills, with the confidence to advise clients directly and make judgment calls under time pressure.
• Bilingual proficiency (English and Mandarin Chinese) preferred, to serve a diverse client base.
• Able to work independently while also contributing collegially to the wider team.
  
  

Preferred / Advantageous

• Accredited Family Law Practitioner or trained mediator status.
• Experience with cross-border/international family law matters or high-net-worth divorces.
• Prior experience managing a self-sufficient caseload at a boutique or specialist family law practice.
