Job Description

The Opportunity:

Adecco is partnering with a well-established international retail sourcing organisation to identify an experienced Fabric Development Specialist. This role will be supporting end-to-end fabric initiatives across product categories. You will play a key role in driving fabric innovation, ensuring technical excellence, and working closely with suppliers to deliver consistent, high-quality developments aligned with business requirements.

The Job:

  • Support the sourcing and development of fabrics across assigned categories, including innovation initiatives and new material exploration
  • Partner closely with category teams on cost optimisation projects, including fabric benchmarking and price tracking
  • Conduct technical evaluations and risk assessments of fabrics during the sampling stage, ensuring suitability for production
  • Oversee fabric approvals, including quality, performance, and compliance standards
  • Maintain and manage fabric libraries, along with records for development, sampling, and colour approvals
  • Ensure compliance with product safety and chemical regulations, working with internal stakeholders to resolve any issues
  • Monitor development timelines to ensure samples are delivered in line with the overall business calendar
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. sourcing, product development, quality) to drive innovation and continuous improvement


The Talent:

  • Degree in Textile Science, Textile Engineering, or a related discipline
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience within a buying office or similar sourcing environment
  • Strong hands-on experience in fabric development, including print, colour, and production processes
  • Solid understanding of textile quality standards and testing methodologies
  • Familiar with product safety regulations and compliance requirements within the textile industry
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across regional teams
  • Open to travelling overseas for supplier visits and industry exhibitions
