The Waste Management and Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS) was established in 2001 to represent and support a diverse membership, including General Waste Collectors, recycling companies, and equipment suppliers. WMRAS aims to raise standards and professionalise the waste management and recycling industry. The association works closely with government and partners to promote sustainable practices and support a greener living environment.
Role Description
We are looking for an experienced and forward-looking Executive Director to lead the strategy and overall management of the association, driving industry growth, member value, and sector-wide impact. Working closely with the Executive Committee, government agencies, and industry stakeholders, you will strengthen partnerships, represent industry interests, and deliver impactful programmes.
- Drive the association's strategy and position it as a trusted industry voice.
- Partner with EXCO on priorities, industry developments, and performance.
- Represent industry views and facilitate two-way communication between members and government agencies.
- Lead industry initiatives and capability-building efforts.
- Oversee operations, programmes, and events to deliver strong member value.
- Ensure financial sustainability through budgeting, revenue growth, and resource optimisation.
- Uphold governance, compliance, and risk management standards.
- Build partnerships and translate industry challenges into practical actions and solutions.
- Facilitate platforms for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and business development.
- Grow membership and enhance value through programmes, training, and engagement platforms.
Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, with 6 years in senior leadership or management roles.
- Proven track record in organisational growth, innovation, and team leadership.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage complex operations with attention to detail.
- Experience working with government, industry, and international partners.
- Familiarity with programme management, financial planning, budgeting, and governance.
- Singaporean / SPR candidates preferred.
