This is an executive role that supports and carries out the implementation of programmes, activities and events aligned to the strategic direction of Samaritans of Singapore's (SOS) vision and mission through internal and external communication as well as fundraising and partnership initiatives.
Working closely with the Assistant Manager (Communications) of the Advancement & Planning (A&P) team in implementing all key aspects of internal and external communication. This role will support and drive awareness for SOS's programs and services in suicide prevention, intervention and postvention including publicity, outreach initiatives, events, talks as well as engagement programmes that are aligned with SOS brand and mission To be an available lifeline to anyone in crisis.
Coupled with proficiency and competencies in impact-driven, outcomes-based marketing communications, the scope of the role also involves developing and supporting relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners, steering the management of SOS's owned and paid platforms, and developing compelling narratives to drive through fundraising and advocacy efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Working closely with Assistant Manager (Communications), Advancement & Planning (A&P) to drive communications and engagement in the following areas:
Internal and External Communications:
- Support the development and execution of communications strategy to strengthen engagement and advocacy among employees, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
- Create and manage impactful narratives and content that articulate SOS's mission, strategy, and initiatives across various channels, ensuring consistency in tone and messaging.
- Writing and vetting of various corporate communications. (e.g. Speeches, Decks, Media enquiries, Annual Report, Press Releases).
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts and identify opportunities for enhancement.
Leadership and Media Engagement:
- Collaborate with senior management to shape key narratives for leadership speeches, media interactions, campaigns, and crisis communication planning.
- Provide communication support to senior leaders, including crafting messages, talking points, and media interview briefs.
- Manage media and PR engagements, cultivating strong relationships with journalists, influencers, and sectoral partners to increase visibility and positive coverage for SOS.
Branding and Storytelling:
- Uphold and strengthen SOS's corporate branding and positioning across all communication platforms and materials.
- Develop creative, human-centred storytelling approaches that bring the organisation's impact and beneficiaries voices to life.
- Support the production of communication materials such as newsletters, annual reports, website updates, and digital content.
Events and Partnerships:
- Provide end-to-end communications support for Key events and initiatives- including publicity plans, budget tracking, programming, media materials, event narratives, scripts, collaterals, and post-event reports.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with sectoral partners, corporates, advocates, and influencers to expand SOS's reach and amplify SOS's cause.
- Work closely with the A&P team to conceptualise and operationalise campaigns and major events that advance the agency's brand, communications, and fundraising objectives.
Performance and Impact
- Measure and analyse effectiveness of communication initiatives by leveraging qualitative and quantitative data, tracking key performance indicators, and generating actionable insights that strengthen brand presence, optimise audience engagement, and support organisational goals.
- Produce donor impact report, annual report, or other marketing/educational collaterals for public consumption
Educational Qualification:
- Degree in Marketing Communications /Fundraising
Relevant Experience:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience working in Social Service Agencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills,
