Overview
Our client, a leading hedge fund, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional with Japanese language proficiency and a strong passion for financial markets to join their trading team.
This is a hands-on role that offers structured training and direct mentorship from experienced traders, providing a clear path to build expertise in execution and contribute meaningfully to investment strategies.
Responsibilities
- Partner with portfolio managers, brokers, and traders to execute equity, futures, and custom basket trades across global markets with precision and efficiency.
- Monitor trading activity to ensure alignment with internal risk parameters and compliance standards.
- Stay on top of market movements and adjust execution tactics in real time.
- Manage share lending and returns related to short positions.
- Support IPO and placement applications, and handle corporate action processes.
- Reconcile data across trading and portfolio management systems to ensure accuracy.
- Compile and present monthly market insights to the investment team.
- Drive process improvements and contribute to automation initiatives.
- Assist with tasks related to risk oversight and marketing as needed.
Requirements
- Background: 13 years of experience in trading, operations, or a related financial role. Recent graduates with strong academic credentials in finance or economics are welcome. Professionals from other industries with relevant analytical skills and financial literacy will also be considered.
- Language Skills: Business-level Japanese is preferred, in order to liaise with Japanese speaking stakeholders. Candidates with JLPT N3/N4 and a demonstrated commitment to improving their language skills are encouraged to apply.
- Personal Attributes: Strong team player with excellent multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Technical Skills: Solid Excel skills are essential. Familiarity with VBA, Python, or SQL is a plus.
