Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The Ethics & Compliance (E & C) Affiliate Business Partner, APAC and Taiwan will serve as the senior compliance officer for the APAC and Taiwan region and provide or oversee the provision of Compliance support related to protecting and advancing the compliance and risk-mitigation interests of Astellas Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Taiwan sub-region and will be responsible for

  • building and overseeing a team of E & C Affiliate Business Partners in APAC &Taiwan;
  • implementing Astellas Global or Regional policies, risk mitigation and compliance initiatives;
  • providing and/or overseeing the provision of timely and effective Compliance services.

E&C Affiliate Business Partner, APAC & Taiwan shall act as Subject Matter Expert and Trusted Advisor to equip and enable the personnel across the sub-region to ensure colleagues understand and strictly adhere to the Astellas Group Code of Conduct, relevant industry association Codes of Practice, relevant Healthcare Compliance policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other applicable laws and regulations.

E&C Affiliate Business Partner, APAC &Taiwan shall always fully understand, comply with, and challenge as appropriate. He or she shall raise any concerns in a timely manner with the relevant manager(s) including reference to the Ethics and Compliance team and/or Ethics and Compliance Helpdesk.

He or she shall regularly undertake and refresh mandatory Ethics and Compliance training in order to maintain knowledge and expertise to enable informed consent and personal accountability.

E&C Affiliate Business Partner, APAC & Taiwan shall always comply with the Company Way and Company Competencies, in terms of expected values and behaviors, Company HR policies, procedures and guidelines.

This role may also cover or supervise the E & C operations in the Global Capability Centers ('GCCs) or other assigned affiliates as applicable.

The E & C Affiliate Business Partner, APAC and Taiwan will also serve on the APAC Leadership Team.

Required Qualifications

  • [10+] years experience in a legal or compliance department.
  • Prior legal and/or compliance department experience at the affiliate level in a multinational pharmaceutical company and demonstrated knowledge of industry legal/compliance issues.
  • Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leadership throughout the organization and on a global basis.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated leadership and analytical skills, strong strategic focus, and a demonstrated record of cross-functional collaboration. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and effectively collaborate with multiple functional units and clients at the senior level.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, teaching and coaching skills. Ability to effectively communicate compliance issues verbally and in writing in a clear and understandable manner. Demonstrated ability to inspire trust and confidence through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, exercise independent judgment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to focus on critical priorities with little or no supervision. Strong work ethic and ability to produce high quality work under deadline pressures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative global environment.
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A law degree from an accredited university.
  • Prior experience serving in a compliance position in the pharmaceutical industry.
