The Opportunity

Our client is a Singapore‑based financial institution operating as a subsidiary of a leading Chinese financial group. With more than a decade of presence in the local market, the company is licensed to conduct securities dealings, brokerage activities, fund management and financial advisory services.

The firm focuses on serving institutional and corporate clients, with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and risk management. As part of a globally integrated network, it leverages its dual‑language capabilities and regional expertise to facilitate capital flows between Greater China, Southeast Asia and other international markets. They are currently seeking a detailed oriented Equity Trader in Singapore.

Responsibilities:

  • Support in setting up the equity trading desk and establishing necessary systems and SOPs.
  • Execute trade orders through the firm's order management and execution management systems, using a combination of manual and algorithmic strategies to minimise market impact.
  • Perform technical and fundamental analysis to identify potential alpha opportunities, and contribute to daily market commentary and reporting.
  • Monitor market movements and order flow in real time, coordinating with international offices on emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Provide clients with timely market intelligence and portfolio updates, supporting their strategic decision‑making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics or other related disciplines.
  • Min. 5 years of experience in institutional equity trading. Those with capability to setup a desk from scratch would be highly desirable
  • Meets the requirement fit and proper to be appointed as a MAS Capital Markets Services (CMS) representative
  • Strong proficiency in technical analysis, and experience with trading platforms such as Bloomberg and Reuters etc.
  • Sound knowledge of US, Hong Kong and China equity markets, including market structure and trading strategies, and good understanding of the operational side of equity markets
  • Strong numerical ability and the capacity to work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
  • Professional fluency in English and Mandarin to liaise with Mandarin‑speaking stakeholders and HQ
