About the Role

We are setting up a new food manufacturing facility in Tuas producing microencapsulated flavour powders. The facility uses advanced drying technology, CIP cleaning, and cleanroom environments (ISO 7 / ISO 8), along with supporting utilities.

We are looking for an Equipment & Process Engineer to support equipment installation, commissioning, process optimisation, and ongoing engineering reliability. This role is critical during installation, FAT/SAT/PQ, and production ramp-up.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Installation & Commissioning

  • Support installation, reassembly, and commissioning of drying equipment and ancillary systems.
  • Work with equipment vendors and local contractors during SAT and PQ.
  • Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Ensure equipment is installed to specification and GMP requirements.

Process & Performance

  • Monitor and optimise drying process parameters: temperature, vacuum, feed rate, and evaporation performance.
  • Troubleshoot process deviations and support root cause investigations.
  • Support product trials, process validation, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain process parameter records and equipment performance data.

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and critical spares list.
  • Coordinate with vendors for specialised repairs and calibration.
  • Support calibration and instrument verification.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure equipment compliance with SFA, ISO 22000, GMP, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain equipment files, as-built drawings, manuals, and maintenance records.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Prepare technical reports and SOPs where required.

Utilities & Facility Support

  • Oversee utilities: steam, cooling water, compressed air, vacuum, drainage, and power.
  • Coordinate with contractors for facility and utility upgrades.
  • Support cleanroom HVAC and environmental monitoring where required.

Safety

  • Promote safe work practices and permit-to-work systems.
  • Ensure contractors comply with site safety rules.
  • Support risk assessments and method statements.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in food, pharmaceutical, or cleanroom manufacturing.
  • Experience with industrial drying equipment, spray dryers, or similar continuous process equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, and SFA requirements.
  • Able to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Able to speak Chinese is a nice to have.
  • Willing to work on site and support commissioning activities.

KPIs

  • Equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Drying performance consistently meets specifications.
  • Preventive maintenance completed on schedule.
  • Breakdown response time and resolution time.
  • Zero major audit findings related to equipment.
  • Spare parts availability for critical items.
