We are representing our client in the marine sector to look for a business savvy and technically adept Enterprise Architect to define and maintain the organization's enterprise architecture strategy, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technology solutions.
This role provides leadership in designing the evolution of current to future-state architecture (e.g. AI design & adoption), guiding technology decisions, and ensuring compliance with standards and governance frameworks for shore, cloud and vessels.
A key focus will be on designing integration frameworks that connect internal systems and external partners to enable seamless, secure, and scalable operations.
Responsibilities:
Architecture Strategy & Planning
- Lead,define, maintain, and govern enterprise architecture frameworks, practices, standards, and roadmaps aligned with business goals and digital transformation objectives.
- Develop, maintain and publish (half yearly) enterprise architecture roadmaps that incorporate emerging initiatives and business priorities.
- Map and maintain updated enterprise environments and assets, including business processes, infrastructure, business applications, and data platforms.
- Periodically review and reduce technology redundancy
Cloud & Platform Expertise
- Design and optimize enterprise architecture leveraging Cloud services (e.g. Microsoft).
- Ensure scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency in cloud deployments and operations.
Security by Design
- Embed security principles into enterprise architecture from inception.
- Collaborate with Information Security teams to recommend and implement robust security solutions and processes across onshore, cloud, and vessel IT environments.
- Ensure 100% compliance with cybersecurity standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Zero critical security vulnerabilities in architecture reviews
Emerging Technologies
- Drive research and deliver at least 4 proof-of-concept (PoC) for emerging technologies and innovative solutions that eventually some will lead to adoption across technology platforms and business processes.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, and automation
Governance & Standards
- Establish and enforce architecture principles, policies, and standards.
- Conduct half-yearly architecture compliance reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory, security, and compliance requirements across all technology initiatives.
- Achieve 95% adherence to governance standards across all projects
Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate architecture decisions effectively to executives, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment between business objectives and technology solutions.
- Chair monthly Architecture Review Board meetings with stakeholders
Domain Knowledge
- Continuously study and apply knowledge from shipping and logistics domains to inform architecture decisions.
Vendor & Partner Collaboration
- Engage and consult with internal stakeholders and external entities, including vendors and business partners, to ensure successful delivery of technology initiatives.
Solution Design & Oversight
- Lead and oversee the planning and design of major system components and changes, ensuring business requirements are met with emphasis on security, scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure high security standards are consistently applied across all projects.
- Deliver 95% of major projects within agreed architecture guidelines.
- Achieve zero critical design flaws post-implementation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Min 8 years in IT architecture roles, with at least 3 years with enterprise architecture responsibility.
- Familiar with standards such as SoC1/2, ISO27001, NIST, CIS, etc desirable
- Proven expert experience with Microsoft Azure and other cloud-native architecture and tech.
- Strong expertise in service oriented, distributed computing, and event-driven architecture.
- Deep knowledge of data architecture, DevOps, security, and AI/ML platforms.
- Experience designing integration frameworks for internal and external systems.
- Familiarity with maritime technologies, standards, and operational systems is a strong plus.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- TOGAF and equivalent enterprise architecture certification.
- Experience in Maritime industry, particularly in container shipping and logistics, will be advantageous.
