We have an engineering team in Singapore to support our activities in the APAC region. As Engineering Lead Singapore, you will lead a team of around twenty people and be accountable for all engineering activities related to Singapore's tenders, projects, and product development. Your role is central to ensuring strong technical performance and a positive team culture with a family feeling, keeping the HMC identity and making sure the HMC engineering way of working stays embedded. You will report to the Engineering Manager T&I as well strongly liaise with the General Manager Singapore.
Your role
As Engineering Manager Singapore, you will be responsible for all engineering activities related to tenders, projects, and business development. You are also the line manager of the engineering team in Singapore.
Daily activities
Your daily tasks and responsibilities include the following:
- Lead and motivate your team of project engineers, installation engineers, discipline engineers and draughtsmen.
- Assign the right person to the work while supporting career development and succession planning, resource management and forecasting of engineering.
- Drive Performance management.
- Work with the local HR team on any HR related matters.
- Maintain engineering quality standards.
- Develop a learning organization through standardization, knowledge management, and lessons learned implementation.
- Maintain the relation with local engineering subcontractors, identify and assign subcontractor scopes as required.
- Drive the recruitment of engineering personnel.
- Working closely together with the Engineering Manager T&I from HQ.
- Liaising with the other product lines within Technology, as well key departments such as Operations and Asset, Supply Chain Management and Commercial.
- Support Business Development and tender teams with engineering input essential for winning work.
- Support the General Manager on any office related activities
- Maintain relationships with relevant industry partners and promote knowledge transfer.
- If circumstances dictate, take up PE role within tenders or projects on temporary basis.
Furthermore, you are/have:
- A Bachelor and/or Master's degree in Engineering
- At least 5 years of experience in management of a (multidisciplinary) engineering team
- Experience working in various cultural environments
- High cultural understanding and able to use this for the benefit of employee and company
- The ability to balance day to day requirements in combination with a long-term outlook
- Proven track record in resource management, with strong people skills
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
- Hands-on mentality and step-in where and when necessary
