Job Description

As an PDE Yield Enhancement (YE)Engineer within Package Development Engineering (PDE), you will be responsible for yield monitoring, excursion management, and yield stabilization during High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) New Product Introduction (NPI).

This role is critical to ensuring robust yield performance from first silicon through NPI ramp and early HVM, working closely with Process Integration (PI), MRDA, Process Engineering (PE), Assembly/Test Manufacturing, and Quality teams. You will act as a handson yield owner during NPI builds, driving fast learning cycles, early risk detection, and disciplined yield recovery.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness,exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.

  • Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one's scope of work.

Yield Loss Accounted For

  • Account for HBM NPI builds across Post Wafer Finishing (PWF), Assembly, and test through defect breakdown and Physical Failure Analysis (PFA) submission to understand fail mode

  • Work closely with PI to identify defect that is coming from their area to brainstorm for Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP)

  • Learn NPI processes, phase gates, and yield best practices

  • Assist in maintaining yield dashboards and trackers. Support PI/PE/Real Time Defect Analysis (RDA) in identifying and transforming processing data to account/ breakdown a yield loss

Yield Deviation Control

  • Analyze and report on yield deviation issue and trigger action from PI, Process Engineering (PE) or RDA

  • Support block run and partial conversion build yield analysis to early detect any impact on yield

  • Work closely with Process Control Systems (PCS) team to identify Statistical Process Control (SPC) or Fault Detection & Classification (FDC) charts to put into Yield Loss Ratio (YLR) dashboard for shift left monitoring

Yield Improvement Opportunities

  • Brainstorm with staff from other departments to brainstorm for improvement opportunities to propose to PI

  • Utilize software tool like Auto-diagnostics to find yield improvement opportunities

Integrating Artificial Intelligence

  • Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgement and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements

  • Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one's scope of work

Job requirements, Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or related discipline

  • 0-2 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or engineering

  • Strong interest in yield analysis and datadriven problem solving

  • Basic knowledge of statistics, SPC, or data analysis tools

  • Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem-solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes

  • Strong analytical, logical, and critical thinking skills

  • Effective communicator, able to collaborate across all levels

  • Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning

  • Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus

  • Demonstrated leadership and a track record of impact are highly desirable

  • Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred
