1. Role Purpose
This role sits at the critical intersection of Business Development and Project Delivery.
The Energy and Decarbonisation Solutions Architect is responsible for translating qualified customer opportunities into structured, high-quality, and bankable solutions across renewable energy, energy management, and digital (IoT) domains.
The role is a key driver of conversion quality, deal value, and customer account expansion, moving Vector Green from a product-centric approach to a solution-led, value engineering platform.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Customer Opportunity Translation
- Work closely with Business Development team to understand customer requirements, constraints, and decision drivers
- Diagnose underlying customer pain points beyond initial request (e.g. cost optimisation, ESG targets, operational efficiency)
- Develop a holistic understanding of customer energy usage, site conditions, and commercial context
B. Solution Design & Structuring
- Develop integrated decarbonisation solutions across:
- Solar PV (rooftop, carpark, ground-mounted)
- Energy efficiency (e.g. lighting, HVAC optimisation)
- Energy monitoring & IoT systems
- EV charging and electrification opportunities
- Move beyond single-product proposals to multi-lever solution stacks
- Ensure solutions are technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with customer constraints
C. Value Engineering & Financial Structuring
- Quantify customer value through:
- Cost savings ($)
- Return on investment (ROI), payback period, IRR
- Carbon emissions reduction (tCO₂)
- Structure proposals in a way that is decision-ready for senior management / CFO-level stakeholders
- Explore alternative commercial models where relevant (e.g. leasing, PPA, phased implementation)
D. Proposal Development (Core Responsibility)
- Develop high-quality, client-ready proposals including:
- Customer situation and key pain points
- Identified opportunity stack (multi-lever approach)
- Recommended solution architecture
- Financial impact and implementation roadmap
- Structured and insight-driven (not product brochures)
- Clear, compelling, and aligned with client decision-making needs
E. Deal Support & Client Engagement
- Support Business Development during client discussions, presentations, and clarification sessions
- Provide technical and commercial credibility during proposal and negotiation stages
- Address client queries on solution feasibility, performance, and financial outcomes
F. Account Development & Expansion
- Identify additional opportunities within existing customer accounts (beyond initial scope)
- Contribute to building long-term, multi-project client relationships
- Support development of repeatable solutions across similar customer segments
G. Internal Capability Building
- Contribute to development of internal Proposal Operating System including:
- Standardised templates
- Financial models
- Solution playbooks
- Continuously improve proposal quality, consistency, and conversion effectiveness
3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Proposal conversion rate (win rate)
- Average deal value and solution scope (multi-lever adoption)
- Quality and turnaround time of proposals
- Contribution to pipeline value and secured projects
- Ability to identify and unlock additional opportunities within accounts
4. Requirements
Experience
- 3-8 years of relevant experience in:
- Renewable energy (solar, EV, etc.)
- Energy management / efficiency solutions
- Pre-sales engineering, system design, or technical consulting
- Proven experience in proposal development and/or solution structuring
Technical & Commercial Skills
- Strong understanding of energy systems, sustainability solutions, or related technologies
- Ability to translate technical solutions into commercial value propositions
- Familiarity with financial evaluation concepts (ROI, payback, IRR)
- Ability to structure solutions across multiple components (not single-product focus)
