Overview
The Elementary School Math & STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Instructional Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Elementary School STEAM team. This job role includes assisting elementary school teachers, students, and other staff members with STEAM-related activities and the use of our STEAM studios. The job is dynamic, varied, and unique within the school. The ideal candidate will possess a repertoire of knowledge involving STEAM and be able to build lessons, share ideas, and participate in lessons as needed. This person will be a lifelong learner with a growth mindset who is able to ask questions, share ideas, and be a creative problem solver. This individual must have the ability and motivation to adapt to new technologies and learning challenges. They will also demonstrate initiative, creativity, and critical thinking when assisting elementary school students and teachers with their learning.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional and academic support to elementary students across advanced Mathematics classes and STEAM studios, focusing on maker, design, and engineering projects.
- Cultivate and maintain a safe, productive learning environment within advanced Mathematics classes and STEAM studios, encompassing strategic management of physical resources, proactive communication of established procedures, and consistent monitoring of student conduct.
- Oversee the comprehensive management of equipment inventories and instructional resources, including organization, maintenance, and systematic restocking.
- Execute the setup of learning activities as directed, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and maintaining a child-friendly environment.
- Liaise with PLC Leads to communicate and coordinate material requirements for Math and STEAM studios, offering relevant suggestions for resource enhancement.
- Extend academic support across various subjects, particularly through the implementation of individualized mathematics programs, while continuously developing and applying expert knowledge of mathematics and STEAM curriculum materials.
- Execute daily operational tasks essential for the opening and closing of facilities, as directed by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma or certificate from an accredited educational institution in courses such as Math, Coding and Robotics Engineering, Maker Design and Engineering.
- Relevant specialized work experience in elementary education settings related to mathematics, basic coding, robotics, maker, design, and/or engineering projects.
Core Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Demonstrated mathematical ability equivalent to a high school graduate level.
Note: The candidate may be required to demonstrate their math proficiency, and their approach to tutoring students via scenario-based questions and/or a math proficiency assessment, as part of the interview process.
- Ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively and provide assistance as necessary.
- Experience with Apple products, including iPads, macOS, iOS, and Google apps.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills necessary to learn new procedures for devices, including iPads, 3D printers, and basic robotics components
