Job Description

We are seeking applications for the position to start in July 2026, negotiable.

Primary Responsibility:

To provide our student swimmerswith a challenging, well-organised, and enjoyable swimming programme (beforeand after school) that encourages our ES and HS swimmers to develop pool skillsand participate in competitive swimming galas and competitions throughout theacademic year. To offer Professional Development to our PE staff and assist theIGCSE Swimming, Life-saving and Personal Survival components.

Primary Responsibility:

To passionately inspire students with a stimulating, challenging, andenjoyable learning experience, both in and beyond the classroom. This roleextends beyond academic instruction to fostering critical thinking, creativity,and a lifelong love of learning, empowering students to thrive holistically andachieve their full potential within the supportive ethos of SJI International,while upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and student well-being.

Specific Responsibilities:

. To lead the development of abusiness model for a paid-for Learn to Swim weekend programme.

. To be Head Coach and Manager ofour ES/HS Swim Teams, with the responsibility of coaching before school andafter school sessions on a weekly basis.

. To ensure that Health and Safetymeasures are followed and the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and Normal OperatingProcedure (NOP) are kept regularly up to date.

. Follow all safeguarding practicesin line with SJI International's safeguarding policy.

. To be the lead technical coach onour swim coaching staff and offer technical expertise to the swim team and respectivecoaches.

. To formulate and organise theannual swim meet calendar for our ES/HS students and teams.

. To organise the registration (MEETMANAGER) process for participation in ACSIS and SSSC competitions.

. To organise a competitive swimprogramme that supports movement from ES to HS (training sessions andopportunities to compete).

. To take the lead in taking our topcompetitive swimmers to at least two overseas swim meets per year (link withSJI KL), once opportunities open up after COVID restrictions ease.

. To work with the respective Headsof PE & Sport to develop, plan and deliver (as and when necessary) a swimcurriculum that meets the needs of our students and aligns with Teaching &Learning taking place in the PE curriculum.

. To work alongside Heads of PE& Sport to organise and plan and attend all swim galas staged at our schooland external to SJII.

. To ensure that equipment/kit ispurchased to support our swim programmes.

. Set clear targets for raisingachievement for all students.

. Share feedback with students onhow to develop goals and targets and to raise the profile of the swim programmein our community.

. Develop resources and materialsthat our ES/PE staff can utilise to support our students in training sessionsand to prepare for events/competitions.

Standards and quality assurance:

. Support the aims and ethos of SJIIas a Catholic, Lasallian school.

. Ensure Health and Safety andSafeguarding measures are consistently practised and applied by the swimcoaching team.

. Be present at and lead all swimcoaching sessions and attend all significant swimming events (unless noticegiven in advance).

. Keep up to date swimmingtimes/records on all swimmers who will be selected for teams to attend meets.

. To lead in designing andimplementing training programmes for swimming squads.

. To ensure that the pool is in safeworking order before swimmers enter the premises.

. To conduct at least two Swimholiday programmes per year.

. To provide land-based training forour swimmers if the pool is out of action (for example, if the thunder alarm isactivated).

. Set a good example in terms ofdress, punctuality and attendance.

. Communicate with parents on theswim programme developments and the organisation of competitions and trainingin a timely manner.

. Uphold the school's behaviour codeand uniform regulations.

. Participate in staff training andannual performance review.

. Attend team and staff meetings(when necessary).

Other duties and responsibilities:

. The Head of Swimming is expectedto regularly visit and present in ES/HS assemblies and support events such asthe Sports Award evening for students in the High School.

. The Head of Swimming will lead theorganisation of Swim Galas and competition meets, including the organisation ofstaff to cover such events. The staff member is expected to assist in team-teachingand support swimming lessons in both the ES/HS timetable for the pool (whereapplicable).

. To further raise the profile,participation and enjoyment of sport within SJI International.

Additional Requirements:

. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both adults and children.

. At least two years of related'Head Swim Coach experience is preferred.

. Lifeguard qualification (schoolcan arrange professional development if Lifeguard qualification has not yetbeen attained). Alternatively, Valid CPR/ First Aid certificate.

. Swim Coachingqualifications/professional development/experience.
