Job Summary:
Our client is a marine consultancy firm, currently seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the technical services team. The selected candidate will be responsible for electrical system installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting across marine and industrial applications. This role also involves providing technical support to customers and coordinating with shipyards and vendors to ensure smooth project execution and a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
System Installation & Commissioning
- Install electrical equipment and systems in accordance with engineering specifications and regulatory standards.
- Support system commissioning, ensuring all functionality and performance requirements are met.
- Verify installations comply with local electrical codes and safety practices.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults, wiring issues and equipment failures.
- Recommend effective corrective and preventive measures.
Customer Support & Training
- Provide remote and on-site technical support to customers.
- Train clients on the proper use, care and maintenance of equipment.
- Address service issues promptly to maintain customer satisfaction.
System Upgrades & Improvements
- Evaluate current systems and propose performance or safety upgrades.
- Lead system retrofitting or enhancement initiatives as required.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce adherence to all safety regulations, risk mitigation protocols and electrical standards.
- Conduct safety assessments and ensure safe working conditions across all service activities.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of all service and maintenance activities.
- Prepare service reports, timesheets and customer acknowledgments.
- Ensure timely and proper documentation upload as per company SOPs.
Project & Site Coordination
- Liaise with shipyards, project managers and customer representatives during repair or commissioning works.
- Monitor progress and ensure quality standards are maintained throughout project execution.
Continuous Improvement & Development
- Stay informed of industry trends, technological advancements, and new tools.
- Attend training programs and contribute to internal process improvements.
- Propose new service solutions or spare part optimizations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
- Additional certifications in electrical maintenance or safety (e.g., NEC, NFPA) are advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical service engineering or a similar technical role.
- Proven expertise in electrical diagnostics, maintenance and marine electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of wiring systems, motors, circuit boards and electrical schematics.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and testing equipment.
- Familiarity with control systems, hydraulics and electrical integration on marine vessels is a plus.
- Possesses strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, excellent communication, and a proactive, customer-focused attitude with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
- Ability to carry electrical equipment and work in confined or elevated spaces.
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally for site service work.
- Comfortable working in shipyards, onboard vessels and in varying weather conditions.
- Flexibility to respond to urgent service calls or after-hours requirements.
