Overview

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is among the world's top education institutes, recognised for its excellence in teacher education and educational research. The (SoLEC) is a dynamic young research center with the ambition to become an international leader in Science of Learning in Education. Hosted at the National Institute of Education (NIE), SoLEC advances cutting- edge research by integrating insights from neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, physiology, education, technology and AI in Education.

We are seeking outstanding candidates whose expertise lies at the intersection of these fields, with a proven track record in multi-disciplinary research.

Candidates with appropriate qualifications and relevant research experience are encouraged to apply. We invite applications for the position of Education Research Scientist to join SoLEC.

Requirements

  • PhD in relevant discipline (e.g. Neuroscience, Educational Psychology, Cognitive Science, Learning Sciences, Educational Technology or a closely related field)

  • Minimum 2 years of post-PhD experience

  • Ability to lead and collaborate within research teams

  • Strong track record in the following areas:
    - Publishing in high quality, peer-reviewed journals
    - Securing competitive, peer-reviewed research funding
    - Conducting independent, innovative research

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (spoken and written English).

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Design and implement SoLEC's research programmes in collaboration with colleagues

  • Lead the development of research projects and secure external funding opportunities

  • Publish internationally in peer-reviewed journals and disseminate impactful findings

  • Translate research into practice and policy impact within education systems

  • Manage administrative and programme‑related tasks to ensure smooth operations

  • Contribute to strategic research initiatives of SoLEC, OfR, and NIE

  • Participate actively in the wider research and service community of NIE.
